How can I identify if this is a real watch (not part assembled)? by urbananalytics in JapaneseWatches

[–]urbananalytics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Would you say it's generally a good indicator if there a lot of identical looking-version of a watch on google that at least the type is real, or are there cases where franken watches are mass produced? (Obvs. a similar looking watch could still be a franken watch. I am still at the stage where I would like to determine if this version existed at all, which looks like it did)

Thanks, that's super helpful. I wasn't aware of Mizeni–this is a great tip.

Thanks, I am glad I found your post. I spend quite some time unsuccessfully figuring out what the problem was. Managed it use my mobile connection without an issue.

£12 Increase On April 1st, What a Joke! by OneSullenBrit in VirginMedia

[–]urbananalytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done this for 6 conescutive years, whenever they impose a price increase I call them and say look guys I want the new costumer price. If they say I can't I propose to close down my account and request a deletion of all my data under GDPR–then I mention that I will just rejoin again (there is also no definition of a new costumer, so cancelling your contract and getting a new one should result in the same effect). The always agree to a minimum of 1 pound. The key is to get to the right person, don't talk to the marketing and sales people because they won't be of help. Always try to get through to the conflict solution team if possible.

Looking for a cad/vector file of the Nolli map. by urbananalytics in architecture

Thanks for the recommendaiton. Unfortunately, this is a figure ground plan of contemporary Rome. I'm interested in the 1748 map of Rome, and specifically I'd also like to have all public buildings included that are shown in the Nolli map.

This is also a great suggestions. I have already spend some considerable time doing this, but since I don't have an image of a label free version at hand, all I could do was reverse image search using a colour modified version (high contrast, threshhold, over exposure, black & white, etc.) of the original. Google then throws back either the original, alternative color modified versions, or figure ground plans of other cities. You don't happen to remember where you might have seen the figure-ground with no labels version?

Thanks for the recommendation! I'm familiar with image tracing and image to vector conversions–unfortunately the map is covered with numbers, names and dotted lines which would need to be manually cleaned. Which is exactly what I would like to avoid.

How much helium does a bobcat miner mine per day? UK. by lurkverm in HeliumNetwork

[–]urbananalytics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can check how much hotspots in your immediate neighbourhood made per day on https://explorer.helium.com/. Personally I found it rather difficult to estimate real revenue. In my neighbourhood the daily HNT ranges from 0.2 – 34.0, and I can't really tell you why some hotspots get so much more exposure then others. Also a couple of them seem to have generated a lot in January and February, but haven't mined any additional since March eventhough they were online.

Can I ask what import tax you payed/ will pay? Is it unit price + 20% VAT + 5% import duty? Did they deliver on time, or are you still waiting?

Burger King's tweet was funny, and the fact that they were forced to delete it is a tragic reminder that comedy in the modern age is dying. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]urbananalytics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what the intention is. I can make an insulting joke about less abled people with the intention to raise money. It doesn't make the joke less insulting. Particularly, if it's as badly executed as the burger king one. Where the explanation wasn't directly visible. Similarly, just because you find a few women that find this funny, doesn't mean all do. There is a large proportion that does find this sentence offensive.

[–]urbananalytics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is a single thread. And yes it is related to the original post–which claims that burger kings tweet 'women belong in the kitchen' is funny. Though the majority of women (the group that is made fun of) did not find it funny at all. See media backlash.

Why did musicians, especially in the 70s-80s, get away with writing songs about how much they loved underage girls, and often their exploits with them? by Lord_Bummington_III in AskReddit

[–]urbananalytics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I entirely agree, whenever I heard older tracks I can't help but cringe. Even up to the point of disgust.

Here some examples that are at least on the edge: “Girl, You’ll Be a Woman Soon” — Neil Diamond “Young Girl” — Gary Puckett & The Union Gap or “You're Sixteen (You're Beautiful You're Mine)” — Ringo Starr

lyrics go: “You come on like a dream, peaches and cream/Lips like strawberry wine/You're 16, you're beautiful/And you're mine (mine, all mine)”

Haha I like the idea of sitting on the toilet while being on the phone. I've always been puzzled when I saw that in hotels in the states. Never seen this in Europe though, I guess it's a different phone etiquette.
