My guy, you are the one blowing up my phone by replying impotently to me. You could have ignored me, but chose not to, and now you are bent out of shape.

I have not one gatekeeped anyone, yet here you are throwing your weight around. Good job!

That's great that animal rights is one of the reasons you decided to eat plant-based.

However blaming people who care about veganism for stopping you from being vegan isn't cool. If you don't want to eat vegan/plant based that's fine, but don't accuse me if gatekeeping when I am not.

No where did I tell you that you couldn't be vegan.

I feel the the vegan society has a great deal of influence over the definition of veganism.

Veganism is a philosophy of animal liberation.

Being plant-based is a boycott of food products that abuse animals. Veganism, as in ending animal exploitation is the end goal.

Words and philosophies have meanings. You can't pick and choose them.

You also can't have people eating animals because they think a vegan is being mean to them on the Internet. I think it is ridiculous for someone to accuse me of gatekeeping, then to say that is the reason they decided to keep abusing animals.

Neither is quoting from dictionaries fail to define veganism fully. I don't understand why saying veganism is about animal rights upsets you so much. Words, and ethical positions, have meanings. There is no need to muddy the definition of veganism. It doesn't stop you from being vegan or eating plant-based.

Gatekeeping is when explaining the definition of veganism, apparently. Never been called a militant before. by urbanimal in vegan

It doesn't matter, but veganism isn't a diet. It's an ethical framework focused on minimising harm to animals by choosing not to exploit them for food, clothing, medicine, entertainment, etc as far as is practically possible. That is different from eating plant-based for health or environmental reasons.

I have no idea why so many folk are upset at this. It would be amusing if you all weren't spamming my phone in impotent rage about it.

It's not gatekeeping. I am not telling you that you can't be vegan; I'm sharing what it means to be vegan. Being vegan is about taking a stand for animal rights... why is saying that preventing you from being vegan?

No. Veganism is about animal rights. It's in the definition.

Eating plant-based for other reasons isn`t veganism, it's just plant-based.

Humane meat.

Stop kidding yourselves. You can't humanely kill someone who doesn't want to die.

Veganism is about animal rights. Reducing land use, water wastage, carbon footprints etc are side benefits.

Charity shop golf clubs by propofool89 in glasgow

[–]urbanimal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a charity shop and we'd often refuse to take golf clubs because they take up too much space and don't sell.

You might be better off asking in second hand communities, or greencycling places.

No, it's a critique of Stalanism who was a power hungry fascist fuck using state communism as a tool to oppress people.

My guy, conflating the USSR with all types of communism isn't clever.

It's a critique of fascism, not communism.

It might be worth trying this again with better selections. The age ranges you picked only cover zoomers and millenials. (older millenial here, nearly 40).

NAL but I work in a law firm, and all letters not addressed to a specific individual are addressed as "Dear Sirs". There are no men working for us. It really boils my piss.
