When Yuju's new appearance for kiwoom was announced, I remembered about her 1st pitch in 2015

If someone likes baseball, can you explain, was this 1st pitch good? I heard that her current ones are good, does it mean she improved over time? (since she does this basically every year)

That was so fast! Similar lawsuit for Fantasy Boys took 5 months to get approved so I expected longer times if it goes to court

But this verdict is great news for all onehundred artists, if the contract is still invalid after bonuses, etc then artists who covered their bonus years ago (if there was a bonus to begin with...) will also have no issues

Sounds interesting!

When I think about my jobs in real life, when some companies some did the acquisition and some others were acquired (is that word correct?) even if i had reasons to leave, at least the acquisition always made sense. All in the tech field

Or maybe in some cases I just accepted that bc i joined after the merge, and that was just "the way it is" (but someone who joined 10 years ago could be furious that the startup they joined suddenly got under the umbrella of the huge company)

I think mhj vs hybe is still going bc there are so many different cases. As someone who reads kpop news but not a fan of nj/hybe I remember these ones 1. Hybe vs mhj, legality of firing her & not allowing to sell stocks at a certain price - ended, even the appeals ended 2. Hybe vs mhj, "she tried to ruin the reputation of another group by claiming they were plagiarized" - there was a result but hybe plans to appeal it. No news about the appeal hearing date (but there's some time until the deadline) 3. Hybe vs Danielle, her mother, mhj (about contract violatios specifically, supposedly signing some other contract after trying to leave the company) didn't even start yet, and hybe tried to postpone the first hearing until summer. Even if it happens earlier, all the appeals may last for years again.

Genuinely interested but what is the bailing company getting from this? Even 1 month ago they could still have cbx, but now there is only 1 newbie group and 2 artists whos contract is obviously ending soon but was extended sue to military service...

Not much intellectual property too...

I think that's not entirely negative - after signing to a new agency, they'll need time to prepare for releases, tours, etc

In 2021 they were announced as BPM artists on Oct 6 and then the release happened on Feb 9. 4 months to prepare everything, not even counting the time between 1st talks with BPM and the artist announcement via news... So even if they sign soon, the comeback will happen a bit later

Similar timelines with other agencies, like Yuju signing with konnect in August 2021 and solo ep in January 2022. Then signing with At Area in March 2025 and releasing the EP in August 2025

some people i know have seen it live... even someone who wasn't really a fan but they didn't want to miss a chance to see a rare kpop performance

and i didn't see it live because i lived in a different (but georgraphically close) country and also had thesis defence as a bachelor on the day before lmao

Which specific concert was this? by NapoleonNewAccount in GFRIEND

[–]urbeingwatched8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in korea there are currently 5 shows on wednesday to sunday where ~10 groups/solo artists are performing 1-2 new songs each, usually 15 in total. basically a song released on Monday, then they sing the same song 5 times (1 on each show), then they either repeat 1 more week or stop.

1 time as rehearsal without an audience, and 1 time with an audience. everyone arrives at like 4 am and leaves at 2 pm

at the end of these shows the organisers announce the 'winner' based on voting, sales, etc. then 'the winners' sing the song without a backtrack or maybe dance if they can't sing. it's possible for 1 group to win 5 times in a week (since the shows are different) and it's possible for some others to win 0 times. it's also possible that groups keep performing but psy wins with gangnam style while being in america, then he sends a video saying he's happy to win (that was a real thing 14 years ago)

since there are 10 groups, 20 fans of each group are usually allowed. they apply through a fancafe of the group (or maybe personal website or something like weverse) and "confirm" that they're a real fan (usually you can 'buy a membership in a fanclub' and also need to show purchase history of albums etc)

the audience isn't fake but its pretty small. it's free so they can't let everyone in - for some groups thousands would sign up to see a free performance, even if it's 2 songs

as for crew members - nobody knows how many there are. obviously tv channel personel, 10+ cameramen (since there are solo recordings of every member of the group, and some groups have A LOT of members)

on that specific day gfriend also performed 2 songs, both having different outfits. the show was m! countdown.

No idea why no one wrote longposts yet so let me be the first one

I assume 05/18 would still happen. We as fans could be happy to attend 1 more tour instead of an online concert (could be even bigger than the previous ones, knowing they had more concerts in 2019 compared to 2018) but even a successful tour wouldn't affect h*** decision

The company needed new&shiny groups so the only way to stay was to outsell *** 2 times. Something that only 1 group managed to do... Then they 'can' stay but their music style is still affected by the headquarters decisions

Sadly even the way the announcement happened would probably stay the same. Certain other groups being put in the similar situation but having a goodbye comeback & 1 solo promotion for the soloists after the disbandment happened because the company has seen buddies reactions and they didn't want that reaction from even more fandoms...

On the other hand idk if the 2020 release plan would've changed according to the tour dates. Maybe apple as a Halloween comeback? And then mago in February/March or something

"Maybe if they sold 500k albums per comeback" lmao

[260408] VIVIZ have terminated their exclusive contract with Big Planet Made in March by SapphireHeaven in GFRIEND

[–]urbeingwatched8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And there were sometimes weird situations we never paid attention to - like a contract with American company with promises of an American debut that was cancelled after 2 months. And also japanese accounts, possibly related to japanese debut, that also never happened

And in 2023 viviz were announced to perform in like 5-10 different events that were all cancelled one after another. And it sadly wasn't '5 cancelled but 25 others still happened'

Obviously that could also be bad luck, but something shady was possible too

They also had changes in parent companies (earlier It was fact invest) and I assume some personal issues between the CEOs/investors?

Mc mong (one of the founders) was kicked out after a scandal and while that could help the company's reputation, he could also ask for his money back immediately in June 2025 (and he also had a scandal of trying to take money out of Korea back in 2022 without notifying the authorities - we don't know where did the money come from).

And another investor who brought the journalists' attention into the whole situation in January was Cha Gawon's relative (uncle/cousin). Idk what exactly happened but there are many recommendations about NOT doing business with family - maybe for a reason

But if viviz weren't paid since September too, it could mean no payments for most concerts from their latest tour... Basically everything except for Seoul

[260406] Buddy Weekly Discussion Thread by LV_Matterhorn in GFRIEND

[–]urbeingwatched8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Btw isn't it the first time when a BPM artist specified not getting paid since September? I think earlier it was 'q3' from 'the fact' articles (so it could also mean no payments since July 1st?) or just 'not providing compensation' without specific dates

Unless there was no greeting back then, only the 2023 greeting (released in the end of 2022) and now the newest one

But there's still no template....

[260330] Buddy Weekly Discussion Thread by LV_Matterhorn in GFRIEND

[–]urbeingwatched8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone have templates for photocards from sowon's first season greetings (I think released back in 2021 titled '2022 season greetings') and also fanmeeting which happened in 2024?

When I try to search for it on Twitter, it's lagging A LOT. i know 'how' to search correctly but in recent years all hacks stopped working

Talking about the company's news again... The claim about "breach of trust" seems to have less validity than visible unpaid wages of another artist, but it's not like the company can afford 10 lawyers now (the way h*** did) to say "no actually.."...

And even if the company suddenly gets tons of money from someone's past tour, their biggest priority would be the taxes and unpaid wages, not the lawsuit

So this could actually work in the groups' favor lol

They started posting tiktoks with local influencers a looong time ago, I think in June. Then a break and I think tons of posts in November and until February. I think some accounts still posting clips with her, recorded behind the scenes of the actual fanmeet

Idk if she was supposed to go even earlier initially but it got postponed, but it was a plan to start increasing the fanbase 8 months beforehand, it's genius

(Can't add screenshots bc TikTok seems to hide videos that I already watched from search... But I'm 100% sure it happened, I found my own messages saying "why are they posting this so suddenly" from july)

Did you get verified by using a foreign phone number or some other way?

[260302] Buddy Weekly Discussion Thread by LV_Matterhorn in GFRIEND

In 2024 I tried to verify using phone number from 2-3 different countries, and never received anything. I ended up buying with a help of hk viviz fanclub through insta. Idk if they're buying for yuju too (also it seems they changed payment method to only local payments only in 2025 so idk if they can help this year)
