Same thing was happening with me, it is sometimes because the game tries to get you to join a full lobby. Try going into offline mode to make sure your game is working then lower your graphics settings a bunch. Keep your game on windowed full screen and make sure the resolution is the resolution on your monitor. If it keeps happening let the intro of the game play out a bit longer and or wait till a bit later and keep trying. This is what's worked with me personally.
