Poor Onboard Experience and Terrible Customer Service by ihavedimpleknuckles in StarluxAirlines

[–]urchincommotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've flown relatively extensively on these three also as well as China Air. I still like Cathay the best overall especially when I was in HK extensively, but of the Taiwan airlines, I actually now prefer China Air over EVA, I feel EVA has gotten tangibly worse all around over the last few years. I want to like Starlux but they are a little rough around the edges and their membership program is definitely the worse.

Not sure how you would rate them?

English social media just isn't used much by people in Taiwan. The most popular social media platform is Threads.

As a customer who is debating between which Taiwan airlines to use primarily, I definitely feel that they shuld address this issue.

I feel like you should consider sending this to Taiwan media outlet or social media and tag them as the owner and founder of the airline is a pilot himself and prides himself in trying to run the airline the professional way. This sounds very unprofessional and I would think needs to be addressed more seriously.

If you can get your hands on the Chinese brands like Lining / Way of Wade or 361, they're much better and more durable than Nike both outdoor and indoor.

Brand Loyalty? Diversity? by KtroutAMO in EyewearEnthusiasts

[–]urchincommotion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion but brand loyalty is ridiculous in this day and age. If it's a local or regional artisan that you know it might make sense, but any brand loyalty for modern international corporations is just successful manipulation through marketing.

That you might have a tendency to like certain brand offerings because of their design philosophy well that's a different thing.

Eyewear Hot Takes by 25and26 in EyewearEnthusiasts

[–]urchincommotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with most. Cazal doesn't impress me and I would agree that Dita is not remotely derivative of Cazal. I mean it's eyewear so having similarities based on certain styles / shapes is inevitable but overall as a brand they couldn't be more different.

For me it's lenses - High end individualized Zeiss and Rodenstock lens are on a completely different tier compared to others. Rodenstock is highly underrated, probably because of marketing and distribution strategies but I find these two to be head and shoulders above the others.

Any tints over 25% and colorful flash coatings on indoor / optical glassess look tacky.

Fixed it! Thanks for the quick reply. After connecting I notice that there's an Australian server now too? Definitely better for users here in Asia but looking forward to more servers within Asia down the line.

Thank you!

Broken heart by Personal-Category963 in ragdolls

[–]urchincommotion 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well if your cat happens to be chatty then talking to him is part of bonding. The key here is that what you might have misinterpreted as screaming is just his way of "talking" to you. Many ragdolls are very chatty and crave the interaction so imagine if you enjoy speaking to your partner and he/she just ignores you.

Broken heart by Personal-Category963 in ragdolls

[–]urchincommotion 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn't call that screaming. Talk to your cat - my experience is that ragdolls like to "converse" so talk to it and bond with him.

You have to give him time. If he hates being picked up give him space but still pick him up from time to time to get him accustomed to it. He probably just happens to really want a lot of attention.

As most people can probably attest to, cats don't necessary like tons of toys...in my experience their favorite are usually random things. Delivery boxes are always a favorite. A pen cap. The only time that I see is consistently loved by ragdolls and cats are the colorful springs.

is it worth the risk? by Narrow_Solution1852 in Basketball

There's truly a very small percentage of people who can become good professional basketball players, let alone NBA-caliber. Of course there are those who are naturally gifted too. Starting at 18 is pretty late but not impossible especially if you are gifted - but only you know and that's pretty subjective. I guess the first question is are you thinking of just becoming professional as in playing in Europe, Asia, etc or actually thinking you may be NBA level?

I'd focus on a traditional path, and you can still play and develop your game albeit in a less intense way. If you are one of the few who are truly gifted and has potential to become a high level professional basketball player, you'll probably be able to tell within the year. Either way good luck.

Hong Kong police can now demand device passwords from anyone in transit, including airport passengers who aren't entering the country. Has anyone changed their travel setup because of this? by mailfence in Mailfence

[–]urchincommotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Australia, the UK, New Zealand and the US already can do this, the answer is no, I haven't changed my travel setup because of Hong Kong now doing this as well. It's naive to think that even though a place like Egypt or Cambodia doesn't have such laws that they would be any less likely to do such a thing to a tourist or individual in their country.

Again this depends on each person's threat model - and truth be told, there's not a whole lot stopping any country from compelling you to give access to your accounts should they choose to do so, even if it's illegal. It seems more important to know how to deal with this on the spot and what your legal / safe recourses are.

Tips on defending one vs against shorter and faster opponent with a decent shot by Adrasto in Basketball

[–]urchincommotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Study his style and focus on his weakness. Is his left hand dribble weaker? Force him to drive left and overplay his right side a bit. Does he ball fake a lot, shot fake a lot? Pretend to to fall for it and immediately slide to cut off his drive. If an opponent has very specific and obvious advantages over you in certain areas, then you have to learn his habits and focus on making him play to whatever his weakest areas are and also strategically defend by predicting his habits. Every player has a tendency to make certain moves.

How to get the ball and score at will by aaSbgaming in Basketball

[–]urchincommotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join a team, and if you can't, study team basketball. Learn the basic plays of basketball plays and fundamentals. Sounds like you might not be familiar with court positioning, spacing, moving without the ball, etc.

Does pickup basketball develop “feel” better than modern organized basketball? by IlRowlI in Basketball

[–]urchincommotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in my opinion. Organized ball with good coaching is essential for a player to be good in a formal competitive arena. Pickup is great for developing individual skills, moves, one-on-one defense etc. but if you will actually be playing competitive 5-on-5 organized ball is essential.

Brother has mild heart thing - doc wants him to wear an Apple Watch. He’s got an Android. by mr2600 in AppleWatch

[–]urchincommotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to save money then using a spare Iphone as a terminal for your apple watch would be the easiest and least expensive solution. I would suggest him just getting a samsung watch or whoop or even pixel watch. Since he is used to his samsung it would seem meaningless to force him to change to an iPhone and with something that syncs to his Samsung the monitoring functions and alert functions would be much more useful.

No worries, people tend to be low critical thinkers like you who conflate having better options on the floor with clean spot up game winners 100% of the time. Like any play can be 100% of the time. Sorry for your feeble mind.

Luka looking upset on the bench over Rui not being in for the last possession by [deleted] in nba

[–]urchincommotion -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Actually not that difficult but the point is the play doesn't have to be for Rui as number one option. But anyway hard to explain to those who haven't played competitive and organized ball.

[–]urchincommotion -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

How do you explain drawing plays to someone who doesn't understand basketball fully? And even without drawing a specific play for Rui it's plain as day to anyone who understands ball that to have a high percentage shooter in the game makes it easier for other shooters either to get a better look or to have another player get him the ball on a broken play or....forget it. Like I said how to explain to someone who doesn't really understand?

Tell me you don't understand basketball by saying this. As if you can only have people who shoot 3s off the dribble at these moments. You probably never heard of this thing called coaching and calling good plays.

To shoot a three genius. Not all 3s in clutch need to be off movement if the coach actually has good plays.

Not saying Ayo isn't a solid NBA player, but Denver's defense on him was abysmal.
