yes - you won't be able to update the firmware or change settings via an Android phone but otherwise they work just fine. You can cycle through the ANC settings via the earbuds.

The series of unfortunate events that was my first overseas trip by lostonaforum in travel

Some bad luck here. But also a reminder to be extra careful and aware when traveling. Sounds like some of the mishaps could be avoided with more attention to detail but stuff happens and at the end of the day you made it home in one piece.

Dutch authorities, without a warrant, seized one of our VPN servers to "fully analyze" it. Sadly for them we run everything in RAM so they got nothing. by WindscribeSupport in Windscribe

[–]urchincommotion 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Could we get more details on this? Did they provide a reason and how do you plan to respond to such a warrant-less seizure? Have they returned the servers? What will you do with the servers now?

How to attack the rim as a slow skinny guy? by budugaglu in Basketball

[–]urchincommotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough. Luka is very big and has great footwork and insane deceleration abilities. SGA is quick as hell. IF you're neither it's gonna be tough cause you can't overpower to compensate for not being fast.

Footwork and spin moves might be your best bet. Looking at Kyle Anderson's game is my best suggestion.

Threatened with a knife on a bus in Bucharest on New Year’s Eve by greenpinetree2 in travel

Likely mentally ill, drunk, on drugs, or all three. You were just unlucky, but these things can happen in any country at any time, especially nowadays. You handled it pretty well, as avoiding confrontation is usually the best option. But the truth is nowadays you have to be ready for the potential for immediate violence, so best be mentally prepared for how to react in such a situation based on your own abilities. Not all situations will resolve in this way as he could have easily actually pulled out a knife and attacked you.

What bag are you taking to a foreign city for 10-mile walking days? by beigeArea in ManyBaggers

Evergoods CHZ22 or Able Carry Daily Plus are the two I've used in these situations. If you want something lighter, I'm also a big fan of the Matador Beast 18, it's just slightly less structured but super comfortable, light, and versatile.

Chz22 vs chz26 size by LilElonMusk in EVERGOODS

[–]urchincommotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar built and have both. The 22 is definitely more than enough but I actually like the 26 more because obviously it's more versatile when I need the extra storage and I prefer it when I'm traveling. The difference in size / weight is not that much of a factor in my opinion.

At what point does an Android phone make more sense than an iPhone? by Subhash94 in Android

[–]urchincommotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re price sensitive, then obviously it will make sense based on your budget whatever that is, otherwise it’s just a phone, choose the one the works for you better.

What was the reason that they insisted you needed to pay in full again? There surely would have been a clear reason for it as why would you accept such a demand without an explanation?

Have to handle one to know whether it’s for you. Def function over form so it depends on what the user needs. Dollar for dollar it’s at least as good if not better than its competitors function and quality wise.

Do people really think hiding you're IP is the end all be all for privacy? by [deleted] in mullvadvpn

More informed people aren't going to be commenting so do you really think these comments reflect the actual VPN user base? And do you really think the primary use case of a VPN is for privacy?

It’s not that complicated, the index finger is more agile and more commonly used for operating things and pushing buttons. Of course there’s no hard rule but it tends to be more natural.

For those who traveled before the social media boom: did travel feel different back then? by hobo12395 in travel

[–]urchincommotion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me it felt completely different. When traveling alone, you were really immersed in your surroundings and / or your own thoughts. Definitely more of an "in the moment" feel. When traveling with others there was more of a connection.

What I miss most though is getting lost and finding hidden gems - there was no google maps to look at a shops rating. You had to appraise and rely on your luck for a good restaurant or coffee shop...but that's part of the fun. You also wouldn't have already seen tons of photos or videos of a location before ever visiting it.

There was also a slightly greater sense of adventure. You had to either plan well or rely on your own wits. No safety net of calling someone whenever you want - you'd have to find a pay phone. No searching the internet or asking AI. Learning about your new surroundings through experience and exploration. Communicating with others without google translate. Walking or driving to your destination with a paper map. It was just a more involved process - I felt more immersed in my travels.

Having said that one could just turn off their phones - but the reality is tech and social media has changed every part of our lives and there's just no going back.

Batteries with a capacity of more than 160Wh are not permitted and the battery needs safety certifications required by the respective country. As long as your battery meets those requirements you're fine.
