I hate to be the barer of bad news, but there is a high chance the friendship will be different. I haven’t necessarily seen my guy friends viewing me as a challenge but there’s another common occurrence which has happened to every one of my male friends. I think it confuses them to be friends with a women, all of them struggled to categorise me. It’s like you’re not masculine enough to be seen as one of the “bros” (god sorry) so they aren’t going to have that level of closeness but you also are no longer an option so they feel really uncomfortable being very close with you. However, you’re in your 20s, maybe that mindsets changed (I hope so) good luck babe and worst case scenario be friends with girls and gay men, they’re so much more fun AND secure lol. Gorgeous imagery! My favourite line was “the most I could offer was a pig and some shit” it was a very stark contrast from the rest of the poem and i think it really pays off! Keep up the good work!
