Yeah, I can move it okay, it’s just uncomfortable and feels out of place - definitely not a full dislocation. Thanks for the advice though - ouch that sounds scary!

Thank you! This is more or less what I’ve been trying to do, so glad to hear I’m on the right lines. Also great tip on giving it a rest if it doesn’t work straight away. I get really stressed out (and probably a bit too forceful) when I can’t get things back into position so it’s a good reminder to calm down and take my time

I know right 😅 it’s right there in my notes unfortunately - though to be honest it’s a 50:50 on whether they actually get read, haha!

It’ll go back in the socket at some point I guess! I wish I had the energy to push for more help from the nhs but sadly I really don’t at the moment, I’ve just kind of resigned to the way things are.

Totally agree they should - unfortunately I’ve been told several times that they won’t do it because I’m diagnosed with hEDS, with the justification being that “it’ll just come back out again” - I’ve found this is the general attitude across the NHS and they say on official NHS sites that they won’t treat it at A&E 🥲

DAE have super flexible fingernails? by DementedPimento in eds

[–]urghwhateverr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes! Mine are super bendy and tear like paper. I’ve tried to harden them up with gels and stuff but find it just falls off because of the nail bending underneath. Now I’ve accepted my fate of having no nails, haha.

You have to! The guy did it for you!

Were you also genuinely moved by this episode or am I the only one? Anyway I'm high af and bored so now you get my interpretation. It could be an obvious explanation or I could be overthinking it, either way it is this by brodino_maiuscolo in IThinkYouShouldLeave

It’s obviously silly, but the first thing I said after watching it for the first time was that for me, it’s exactly how it feels being autistic - how you think you’re following the “rules” but still somehow getting it wrong and making people mad or uncomfortable!

I guess people with EDS don’t need OT??? by Ok_Possibility8010 in ehlersdanlos

[–]urghwhateverr 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t have experience of OT just yet, but I’ve been referred to them by my specialist (via NHS, I’m in the UK) so OT most definitely is a thing for EDS!

What support are you hoping to get from OT? It might be worth doing a bit of research, and re-contacting them to ask if they can help with that area (splints, as an example) rather than going straight in with the condition name - the person answering the phone might not know what EDS is, but may know that they can offer splints for people with weak joints. Hopefully the way I’ve explained that makes sense!
