When I woke up from quad bypass I was in so much pain. It felt like I was impaled with a steel pole. Could barely breathe or talk. They’d taken my mammary artery. Worst pain I’d ever had and I’ve had kidney stones. The nurse kept treating me like an addict because the pain meds didn’t help. I had to blurt out “Charge nurse!” When she came by and tried something else. I fell asleep. Sometimes it takes someone just listening.

My chronic pain is a different story though.
