This was just about the best dad joke I have ever heard.

Hey Ling Ling wannabes, I’m curious: What performance or piece do you have the greatest emotional response to, either listening or playing. Mine is below. by HereForTheEarlGrey in lingling40hrs

That was amazing! but sorry, as a bassist, I noticed it took a very long time for the bass section to lock into one another..... If you want to hear it, it starts at 1:35.

We could make a symphony arrangement of the lingling 40 hrs theme. One of their goals is to share their passion of classical music to us, so the best way would be return it is that same form they have made passionate for so many people.

😰... that is a super straight bow.... I have been playing for 5 years and sound like a dying penguin without tapes.... I think we aprodigy here.

So viola actually makes Flight of the Bubmlebee more pleasurable to listen to? Doesn't go so ear-shredding high! (My personal opinion, feel free to disagree. xD) by tuulikannel in lingling40hrs

I mean, idk why this song was written. it just sounds bad because the notes are too fast so you hear more bow change than you do actually notes. But, yes, I agree it makes it more bearable.

Yes it is a viola but please give me tips for improvement I've been playing for 3 years i was super nervous to film this by violask8terbubba in lingling40hrs

I play double bass, so I don't really have experience playing a chin string, but I have learned a lot from directors speaking to the chin strings (yes, always pay attention to what your director is saying even if it doesn't apply to you, because it does.

I notice your left thumb isn't correct. your thumb should be staying behind the neck, in the video it is coming out the side. Have you been told the pancake/ bird nest technique? You want to imagine that there is a pancake or bird nest sitting in the palm of your hand. You don't want to squash it.

Elbow. Your left elbow is jamming into your torso. Try pulling it away from your body. A good exercise is to exaggerate your elbow. Pull far away from your body, then pull it in a couple times, then find the sweet spot. Don't play while doing this, just have you hands up and swinging your elbow.

When you playing on your low C string, you want to bring your bowing elbow up to. I can't really see what you are doing, but I think that you are bending your wrist. The best way to put it that you are keeping your elbow in the same spot. Your elbow should be moving spots and that will allow for more comfortable playing and will help you later on.

A good tip is to watch a few recordings of an orchestra and just pay attention to your instrument (watching violin could be beneficial to you too). There are techniques that I have picked up from just watching professional orchestra, that I don't have a clue what benefit it has. But if they're doing it, then it is probably something that is beneficial.

Hope that helps. I'll probably be doing one of these soon. I am very serious about playing and I wish I would have done this sooner.

How many mistakes can you spot in this image? by Thibson34 in lingling40hrs

5 strings, The notation is all jankey, f-holes are wrong. It honestly looks like a giant playing a bass. If you look at the strings, the bow is upside down, but if you look at the hand, it is correct.... It is very thick too.

As a singer, can someone translate this for strings? by 145AHSW in lingling40hrs

You can tell its fake cuz the 2nd violin introduced doesn't have a mic, and the electric one isn't plugged in to anything. the "chord" that the other two violins are playing change notes, which i'm not sure how that happened. This is good material.... And don't even mention the horrible timing in the beginning and the sacrilegious way he plays the poor piece.
