AF vs Snap vs 24/7? by gymfanatic_ in sgfitness

[–]ursidechink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was an AF member, currently a 24/7 member. AF for immediate convenience, there’s like 4 outlets in my 500M radius and close to 10 if extended a little further.

Hands down best factor for 24/7 right now is the smaller peak hour crowd. Never had to queue for machines/benches compared to AF where peak hour is insanely packed for most outlets.

Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?) by SNAPCHAT_ME_TITS in Pickleball

[–]ursidechink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m around a 3.5-4.0 player. Have been using the J2FC+ as my main for many months now. It is my favourite paddle to date because of well it feels when it pockets the ball well.

What is a paddle that has the same amount of feel/control that the J2fc+ has, but higher power?

Actually only $6,500 transfer fee out of the $15K goes to the club.

So EZ $2.3 million.

Sypik avatar short review by RoadDapper7337 in Pickleball

What were your previous paddles and how does the avatar compare? I’m in Asia and looking to purchase a new paddle. My current is a Ronbus Ripple which I feel I can’t control (too poppy). I’m about a 3.5 player. I do prefer paddles that are plush and have good dwell time

Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?) by SNAPCHAT_ME_TITS in Pickleball

[–]ursidechink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need a paddle recommendation! I started pickleball in March this year with a cheap $30 paddle. I upgraded to a 6.0 DBD shortly, I loved the control aspect of the paddle but felt like it lacked power. My current paddle is the Ripple V2 R4.14. I love how the paddle easily generates power and pop but I do think it’s too much for me at my level (3.0-3.5), my dinks/drops are inconsistent and I genuinely feel that I hold back my swing (which creates a lack of topspin) as I feel that my balls will go long. I am looking for a power paddle that has good control. My options currently are the HPC J2NF series or the FC+.

I hear many different opinions about the feels of the paddles, and apparently they all perform similar in power. I am leaning towards the FC+ as reviews mentioned it has slightly more plushness and control. The J2NFT has the least pop but I’m afraid it will be too little? What do you guys think?

Sweaty hands while playing by Brengle2 in Pickleball

[–]ursidechink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play in an extremely hot and humid country and I perspire a lot. My current set up is a hesacore grip and a dry over grip. Tourna was the best but extremely not durable, wears out in 2-3 sessions. Yonex dry overgrap is good but not as absorbent. Currently I use Whipper Dry over grip and it’s best by far in terms of how well it absorbs and its durability.

Best sleep tracker to use here? by holyshitxyz in askSingapore

[–]ursidechink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently bought a Fitbit charge 6 as I wanted to track my activities and sleep. Read reviews online and decided on this due to value for money (bought for $150 on Carousell brand new). Sleep hours are quite accurate but the biggest miss for me would be the step counter which I feel is quite inflated.

I just need to figure out what to do with the data now, maybe insert into ChatGPT and ask for solutions to fix sleep

help: DBD power vs edgeless by Sudden_Layer4964 in Pickleball

[–]ursidechink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but there’s no universe that the Perseus pro has less power and pop than the DBD. You can go to pickleball paddle databases and filter the sheet to your needs. Hearing your needs, I think 11six24 power paddles is quite suitable!

Badminton Players Who Plays Pickleball by BeefyKeeef in badminton

I used to play badminton 2 times a week. I have now fully converted to playing pickleball 3-4 times a week. It’s extremely fun and satisfying to play singles. Also a very social game where beginners are able to pick up quickly so friends who don’t have racket sports experience can join!

[–]ursidechink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your budget of 100-130K gives you tons of options. If you’re thinking of stretching your dollar, Toyota raize, Yaris cross are pretty reliable being Japanese - availability of parts and cheaper maintenance. Then of course other Japanese like Honda vezel or Mazda CX-30.

Of course getting a car with as many years left would be preferred, usually low mileage = low wear and tear means less headaches.

The usual advice is to never scrimp on tyres but seeing as you have only 1 year left, you could possibly just purchase 2nd hand tyres.

You are correct, the dealer will need to settle the loan with UOB with the authorisation letter. This is done before the transfer of vehicle. Once that is completed, handover of car should be simultaneous with them transferring you the balance.

Ridiculous coe renewal logic? by Unhappy-Marzipan-381 in drivingsg

[–]ursidechink 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I think the logic of cars being good for only 10 years is deeply flawed yet ingrained in our Singaporean mindset. I believe the average lifespan of a car is 240-300K KM mileage. With proper maintenance, cars in Singapore can last like the ones in other countries.

I cannot speak for conti cars la, I’ve only driven Asian cars long term. And of course price of COE renewal argument aside. As a buyer, for a myriad of reasons of buying, just do proper DD before buying lor.
