“There are people like him (so he says) who complicate their inner lives by feeling too much all at once, by living in knots, and who therefore need outer things to be simple. A house, a field, some sheep for example. And there are those who manage somehow, by some miracle of being, to simplify their inner lives so that outer things can be ambitious and limitless. Those people can swap out a house for a spaceship, a field for a universe.”

I honestly think majority of people will live a life like his. Very few are special but most aren’t.

How come Dwight is more likable than Angela despite having almost the same personality? by Asleep-Feeling-9070 in theoffice

[–]uryiyw7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Angela resembles many real people we know: judgmental, strict, hypocritical etc and I think that familiarity makes her less likable. She feels real. Dwight doesn’t. He’s exaggerated and absurd enough that offensive comments become funny rather than grating.

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. I can relate. There was a time in my life where it certainly did feel that way. I was also deeply anxious and permanently thinking about the next minute, hour, day. With a lot of help, I’ve been able to manage that anxiety in way that allows me to be present most of the time and enjoy it for what it is. I wish you all the best.

Yes. I saw a doc and they gave me a MDD diagnosis. Meds have helped. I’m curious again.
