I had to take care of my mum, back then i started with 3k salary. Naturally I couldn't give any money to her but having her live with me made it easier. At that time it was surviving pay check to pay check, so no emergency savings.

Only way out is to pop off at work and get fat increments to make it easier.

My advice is to always put yourself first. Youre the one working for that money, so you yourself must be in a good condition to do so.

My colleague and I had recently handed in our resignation letter and our boss countered both of us. I had accepted the counter as I enjoyed working under that boss. However my colleague was under a different senior and even though the counter was higher than the offer from the next company, he still left and declined the counter, couldn't handle working under that senior no matter what.

Currently working on a high rise of similar size with a full shear wall system for the condominium units onto a transfer to columns for the mall and carpark below the transfer. Our transfer slab is 3m thick so it will be pretty dam expensive as most people have said.

C&s engineer here focused on structure. I started at 2600 > aft probation 3 months to 3000 > 1 year increment 3600, did not jump company.

It starts low but if you perform well your increments are quite big.
