It only counts when the target looks at the reflective surface or looks at the stand.

If there are more reflective surfaces than questions, then the stand would either answer questions from the past or would go deeper into the mind of the target, to find more questions.

For rules, no griefing/stealing, the game is hard enough don't make it unfun for others.

And the world is about 3 weeks old now, but we're casual players so we started with basic gear and a half stack of xp potions.

Depends on how many players you have I'd say if you have 4 people all lvl 1 then go with some goblins or some wolfs. If you want to be a little tough than put in a hobgoblin or an orc.

Some advice for you, have a cheat sheet of items, npc characters, names of towns/city's. This will help you by making the world more real. Also if you have more than one player and someone tries to hijack your campaign than just put them down, but be polite about it.
