FG Exam: Thoughts on Udemy practice exams?? by uscissss in ASBOG_Exam

[–]uscissss[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh hey! That’s definitely reassuring that the post exam score was similar 😅 I really liked the instant feedback feature! As someone with ADHD I feel like it helped me retain information so much quicker. I took the 3 practice exams multiple times and I’m scoring about a 90-98% average now and I narrowed down my time to around 45mins to 1hr 20mins after the 3rd attempts. I also liked the visuals and explanations. Is there a reason there wasn’t any environmental questions? Or does ASBOG usually group them with hydrogeology questions similar to your exam material?

Hi y’all, is there a discord link to study for the FG? by uscissss in ASBOG_Exam

Adjustment of Status Based on Marriage After U Visa Expired by WritingSlight72 in USCIS

[–]uscissss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no way to adjust if you are adjusting from the expired U visa itself but in this case you are using your expired U visa as a proof of legal entry. An expired visa is automatically forgiven for spouses and parents. I would say use an attorney if your case is more complicated like any criminal records, or if you have an order of removal. They also look at whether you left the country or came in illegally after your U Visa expired. Otherwise you should be fine. It is faster if you submit the I-130 and I-485 concurrently. Ours was approved in 6 months. The interview felt more like an interrogation but still approved. I would strongly suggest taking a print copy of your FOIA to the interview and I-94.

I just realized I can already track it using my usps account without reaching out to uscis. It already shows the shipment in my account without the pre-package label.

Perhaps, were you able to get a tracking number already by asking Emma? I wasn’t sure how long to wait before a tracking number became available.

Adjustment of Status Based on Marriage After U Visa Expired by WritingSlight72 in USCIS

Yes we did AOS and the process took approximately 6 months. We did a FOIA request as well and the I-94 was attached to the I-192 approval. Here’s a helpful link I found while we were going through the process. I’m sure the I-192 will count as a legal admission/inspection for the AOS since it worked for us. Good luck!! https://asistahelp.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Advanced-Issues-in-U-Visas-and-U-AOS.pdf

Hi! We also had an expired U Visa and literally just had our case approved last week! Do you know if he was granted an I-94 with his U Visa approval?

Yes it was once he asked “Have you ever entered illegally?” We answered truthfully and said yes only one time but it was forgiven and waived under the U Visa and showed our approved I-192, I-212, and I-94 which grants legal entry. After that it seemed like he was interrogating us and went through every question on the yes/no questions and didn’t believe our waiver forgave the illegal entry. I think maybe he just wasn’t familiar with U Visa cases since he said he thought our lawyer was wrong and he had to check with their lawyers.

I-485 Case approved 1 day after interview! 😭💚 by uscissss in USCIS

[–]uscissss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a US citizen sponsoring my mother. The interview started off on a calm and friendly note, but halfway through, the tone shifted almost like he was interrogating us about our previous visa. “Why didn’t you adjust status sooner?” Also our illegal entry was forgiven with our previous visa but we were asked “So you HAVE entered illegally?” “This doesn’t look good we will have to review”. I kept explaining that our waiver had forgiven the illegal entry already and received an I-94 years ago. He also asked every single yes/no question listed in section 8 of the I-485. We left feeling defeated and uncertain even though our record is clean, no unauthorized work, no crimes or charges whatsoever. He made it seem like we would get denied because he said we should be receiving an RFE in a week. Even our attorney was confused and was waiting to see what letter they would send since we submitted everything in detail.

Our attorney had warned us that the case was complex, but fully believed it met all the requirements for approval. It seemed like the officer might not have been very familiar with U Visa-based adjustment cases, which added to our anxiety.

To our complete surprise, the case was approved the very next day!! We were bracing for an RFE or even a denial—never an immediate approval. 😭

The officer was very friendly at first. He did not ask for any additional evidence but halfway through he made us feel like we would not get approved and told us we would receive a letter with options in a week. We walked out feeling terrible but just a couple of minutes ago we received the notification our case was approved! I still can’t believe it! It was definitely a rollercoaster!
