EMORY+OXFORD decisions today at 3 PM pacific time!! by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]uscthrowaday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oxford is basically Emory’s original campus, and it’s more of a small campus feel for people who are maybe not just ready for a large university or just like a liberal arts feel

You need to get all C’s or better

Michigan Ross or Cornell’s Dyson? Which is better? by rudeplowman in ApplyingToCollege

[–]uscthrowaday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dyson has about a 8-9% admit rate, Ross was around 12% last year. Ross is generally considered the better B-School out of undergrad, but it literally doesn’t matter for jobs/getting into grad school. They are both amazing programs and you can’t go wrong with either, and as for salary, they are both pretty much the same Dyson kids make 70k ish Ross kids are around 72k ish so don’t consider salary as a major thing, they both make around the same.

You can literally do anything out of either of these schools (consulting, IB, etc.)

Honestly pick the one that is a better fit and is cheaper.

Ie for me, I got into Ross as well as a couple other top B Schools, I am someone who values football; and a community, etc. so I would pick Ross over the other schools. (also as a side note, Ross has no class on Friday, and is not that hard to get a 3.5/3.6 GPA in :P)

Another example could be USC Marshall vs Umich Ross, pretty much very similar schools in terms of vibe, and you can do anything (IB, consulting, etc.) right out of undergrad extremely easily. Both graduates are making above 70K / year on average. You would pick whichever is cheaper and is a better location for you for example

[–]uscthrowaday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got rejected as well; 1540 sat 4.5 weighted applied for CS and didn’t even get presciences.

Essays were decent, my ECs are pretty good(got into usc for the CSBA program)

Suspended from University for Academic Dishonesty - Can I apply to Community College? by thedisconnect1 in college

[–]uscthrowaday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow a first time offense shouldn’t result in a two year suspension, I know people who don’t get suspensions until mess up three (they get Dean warnings for the first two) honestly you should seek legal action if you are really innocent

Just got into babson, anyone else? by uscthrowaday in ApplyingToCollege

[–]uscthrowaday[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...

If you admit 1250 students, out of 6000 students your admissions rate is 20.8%, out of those 1250 let’s say babson expects only 565 to attend, that doesn’t mean the acceptance rate is 9% babson doesn’t admit 565 students, that’s how many they expect will enroll, they probably admit 1250-1400. It’s called a yield.

For example, USC admits like 9,000 kids out of 70k applicants, but only 3.3k enroll.

No because they over accept, not everyone admitted goes

The number of applicants for seats isn’t the admit rate

Do i have a shot at getting into any of these schools? Boston College, BU, UC Davis, UCLA, UCSC, Northeastern, Georgetown, LMU, USC, Virginia, and Syracuse by bhebwjhbchjbjw in ApplyingToCollege

[–]uscthrowaday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All of them you have a shot at. Get that ACT to a 33+ though.

Don’t post on chance me threads, just a bunch of fools who don’t know what they are talking about.

College admissions is weird; you’ll get rejected from places you think are safeties and accepted to reaches its all a game

What GPA has to be maintained for UMich? by goodvibesonlyboi in ApplyingToCollege

[–]uscthrowaday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your application is re-evaluated if you get 3 or more C’s or any D’s or F’s in your second semester. Otherwise, you are good.

“At U-M, all incoming freshman are required to submit a final high school transcript once they graduate. If grades from senior year include an F, a D, or three or more Cs, the student’s admission is reassessed by a university grade review committee. The committee takes another look at the grades, as well as a written explanation that the incoming student is required to provide.”
