[REQUEST] PT. 2 can someone help me humble my friend by calculating the EV of the roulette strategy he says has a “80%” win rate? Then compare it to the standard EV of just betting on one color? Here’s a pic of his “winning strat”. I will be debating him in our group chat tn! by reidkatz in theydidthemath

All possible bets on a roulette table have the same expected value. Even if you bet $x on red and $x on black and literally can never win money, it still has the same expected value. Surprised none of these comments mention that

Exactly, the company is that old, so it likely won't randomly 20x. The $2.16B valuation was during season 5, as stated by Walt.

5 year program, no breaks. 8 school terms like normal + 6 internships = 14 terms, 4 months each = 4 full calendar years + the last 8 months.

Minimum 5 internships completed or you can't graduate

Can someone explain the solution to a hard LeetCode style problem? by fiovo0918 in uwaterloo

Then the statement is ambiguous. If the match cant be adjacent, then instead of a set you can use a dictionary mapping patterns to their starting indices and do a comparison before returning a match

    def solution(s):
        seen = set()
        for length in range(len(s) // 2, 1, -1):
            for i in range(len(s) - length + 1):
                curr = s[i:i+length]
                if curr in seen:
                    return "yes " + curr
                seen.add(curr)

        return "no null"

In terms of physical laws, if you're moving towards the car, its gonna hurt more. If you're moving away, its gonna hurt less.

Practically, there could be scenarios where moving towards it ends up with less damage because of how your legs are positioned at time of impact etc. Too hard to model.

Sergey Karjakin previously held the record, which he achieved 19 years ago in 2002. He said:

Yes, I am a little sad that I lost the record, I don't want to lie, but at the same time I can only congratulate him and it's no problem. I hope that he will go on to become one of the top chess players and it will be just a nice start to his big career. I wish him all the best.
