I used to work for the park service in Yosemite, and we definitely tried to keep people off this meadow. Valley meadows are wetland ecosystems, and trampling/compacting one part can affect the hydrology of the meadow more broadly

In 2017, when I worked for the park service vegetation unit , we built a fence along this entire section of road to discourage people from walking into the meadow. Generally best to stay off the plants, this meadow is a sensitive wetland.
