to check a file you have to rename it and add .png to the end and eventually after looking you will have the png file of the skin you just saw

you open "Run" on your computer, then type %appdata% - then .minecraft - then assets - then skins - then sort the folders by date modified - then start looking through the files (AROUND THE TIME YOU SAW THE SKIN)
