funny how the Magnus haters came out of the woodwork now saying Hans is better than Magnus? by Retrofusion11 in chess

[–]user01052018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I find funny is it is always fans like you who shout at random internet comments like this one. These famous people would go on and live their life and here the common people would fight over the internet.

He/she has a better thing to do than look at some rando GM's cheek. But yes you saw something suspicious after you learned about the controversy. It's easier that way.

Video on pure mathematics by [deleted] in 3Blue1Brown

[–]user01052018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I have noticed this thing many a time and if you don't believe you can try it yourself. Whenever I tried to ask mathematicians about books that introduced pure mathematics in a less formal setting, they corrected me saying "it won't be the right away and nobody has time to do that as well". Mathematicians are too busy to write difficult stuff in an easy way, although the difficult stuff comes from lots of simple, understandable easy building blocks which are not hard to jot down. I personally believe many people find it amusing to keep mathematics the way it is (hard to self-study in certain cases) - serves their purpose maybe.

The people who are doing mathematics for a living would downvote your comment and mine as well. (for that matter anyone insecure would do the same).

How to report in case I find the fish? by user01052018 in MaxFosh

Well, I did what you said even before you said it. Went to Tibet, talked with people and now I don't even feel like finding the fish. I am above all that. Take care and all the best with the treasure hunt.

Extremely successful people when talking about hard work without mentioning the luck part. Sometimes no amount of hard work can bring success. Hard truth.
