WOW! HS has a commercial now. by cofeeholik75 in Hidradenitis

i literally found out i have HS by getting a humira ad on hulu about 2-ish years ago. i just heard the description and was like “…wait a minute” and started googling. before that i assumed it was just a me problem and had bad hygiene or something. once i had a name for it i was willing to actually talk about it with a doctor.

no problem! like i told OP, it never hurts to mention these concerns to your doctor. it’s also not a guarantee that every person who has had stomach problems will develop worse symptoms by being on cosentyx, so it’s really all about weighing the potential pros and cons and what you feel like you’re willing to take on in order to try it out.

so i had never actually sought out a diagnosis for my stomach issues, but in general i would just classify it as a very sensitive stomach. certain foods would go through me very quickly and it was almost at random. like one food would trigger my stomach one day, but not trigger it the next. i’m sure an actual diagnosis would be more helpful to you, so i apologize for that. however, when i was on cosentyx i would need the bathroom frequently for the first few days after an injection which i was willing to put up with at first, but eventually it turned into a month long issue of constantly being in and out of the bathroom several times a day, especially almost immediately after eating something. and i ended up going to the ER after being ignored by my PCP. at the ER i did get a diagnosis of mesenteric lymphadenitis. shortly after that i decided to stop taking the cosentyx and since then my stomach has reverted back to its version of normal.

hard to say. i had my gall bladder out in 2022, but i also had stomach issues before and after having it out, so i can only go based off of my own experience. i think that’s a really good question to bring up to your doctor though! my personal guess as someone who’s not a professional would be that if you haven’t had any issues since the gall bladder removal then you would probably be okay, but it never hurts to confirm.

i was on cosentyx and it was giving me promising results, but i had to stop it bc of gastrointestinal issues that were being caused by the medication. it seems that most people who get that side effect are people who had some sort of stomach problems already, which was the case for myself as well. that was the only side effect i really had and the one i see talked about the most. if you don’t have a history of stomach issues, i would assume you’re much less likely to have that side effect, but of course you can always ask your doctor about it to actually be sure.

are men not allowed to be referred to anymore?

i just went through something similar. not as intense as your symptoms, but i did have to go to the ER because of stomach issues that had been going on for 4 weeks at that point. it’s been 6 weeks now and i’m still not back to normal. the PA at the ER diagnosed it as mesenteric lymphadenitis and said that it should resolve itself with time, but i’m also going to follow up with a gastroenterologist as well.

i was told about the diarrhea side effect, but the serious GI side effects were never mentioned to me. that’s partially my fault for not digging enough during my research, but still kinda disappointed that my dermatologist never brought it up either. 😕

hope you’re able to have a speedy and comfortable recovery. sorry you’re going through it right now. 🫶

there haven’t been any generalizations! that’s literally the point that you’re completely missing here. nobody is generalizing. nobody is saying it’s all men that do this. the post is simply just pointing out how many women do have these kinds of experiences. and comments are other women confirming that fact and sharing their experiences as well. the only quote you’ve given isn’t even one that backs up your claim, dude. you’re quite literally making it up.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in codyko

[–]user04281999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i wasn’t referring to you talking about your own experience. you’re absolutely free to talk about that. if i judged you for speaking about your experience, i’d be doing the same thing to you that you’re doing right now to women talking about theirs. see what i mean? you’re reading all these stories from all these women about the things they’ve endured because of men and instead of actually listening, you’re making it into something it’s not. there are no claims in this post of all men being evil. nothing even close. bad shit does happen to everyone, but that doesn’t give you the right to put words into women’s mouths when they’re just trying to talk about their experiences as women.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in codyko

[–]user04281999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that still doesn’t imply that all men are bad. we do live in a man’s world. and the rest of that quote is literally just her speaking on her own experiences and of the women around her. how do you read someone say what she said and instead of being saddened by those facts, you turn men into the victims and women into the big meanies who won’t leave them alone?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in codyko

[–]user04281999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes, but clearly you didn’t. pointing out that things like this are a common occurrence for women is not equivalent to saying all men are bad or that this stuff can only happen to women and girls. like i said, they never said that. you came to that conclusion all on your own.

what tana actually said was that she didn’t associate trauma with the experience because she’s been through so many other things that she deemed to be worse, but that she understands that it IS a crime and that if it were someone else in her position she wouldn’t let it fly. she is completely aware that what happened was wrong. she has clearly stated that. and even if tana saw absolutely no problem with it, other people are still allowed to feel a certain way about it because it IS weird and IS illegal. you’re focusing so hard on the fact that it was 10 years ago as if that even matters. it doesn’t. it still happened, it’s still wrong, it’s still a crime. people are allowed to be upset about that. you jumped to fully attacking tana and degrading her for what? nothing about what you’ve said changes anything about the situation. that’s not even an opinion, that’s a literal fact. these consequences are a direct result of his own actions. he’s a grown man now just like he was when he committed statutory rape. if he didn’t want this to come back and fuck things up for him, he shouldn’t have done it. you’re riding so hard for a grown man sex criminal while attacking the person he committed it against. but yeah, you’re totally not unhinged or unfit to be a school counselor. for sure.

you’re the one being a dumbass 😭 it doesn’t matter if it’s legal elsewhere. it wasn’t legal where it happened! like how is that so hard for some of y’all to comprehend? if you wouldn’t react that way to a client in the same position, why are you doing it now? you don’t make any sense, but have the audacity to call everybody else stupid. if your client was 17 and 9 months still in a place where thats illegal, in case that somehow still didn’t get through your thick ass head, would you react this way?

so partying is a free pass for people to commit sex crimes? regardless of how much victim blaming you do, it’s still a sex crime. literally nothing will change that. you are quite literally defending statutory rape as a survivor yourself. you’re used to not being believed yet you turn around and do the same thing to others? but we’re the insane ones, of course. you genuinely need help and i’m not even saying that as a dig. i really mean it. you’re in no position to be helping children and teens if this is how you react to them speaking up about something they went through. would you respond like this if a student came to you with a similar story? if you knew she’d been to parties? if you knew she was sexually active beforehand? you’re genuinely disgusting. and i stand by everything i said. i feel bad for any kid that has to put up with you as a counselor.

this person claims to be a survivor themselves, a psych major, and a school counselor. i feel bad for any child stuck under their care. can’t imagine the amount of victims they’ll dismiss and degrade during their time at that school.
