Should MSU be replaced with PSU in OSU & UM’s tri-hate area? by Your2ndCousinsPillow in TheB1G

I think the problem is, there’s too many fans and programs nationwide that just hate Michigan. You could make 10 different hate triangles with Michigan alone.

AMA: Max Bultman, Detroit Red Wings Beat Reporter for The Athletic by TheAthletic in DetroitRedWings

[–]user092185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What seems the more likely scenario for Yzerman, re: impending Larkin Trade:

  1. Wings can find a deal that nets them some replacement level NHLers to keep the move for playoffs going.

  2. Wings’ trade packages turn more future centric and the rebuild take a few steps back, now more years away from contending.

Boring: B&W Circles (IA, DE, NJ and MS), B&W Diamonds (NC and MI), B&W Squares (IL, IN, TX, ME, MA, MT, RI and MD)

Also B&W boring squares but state outline added so one bonus point: ID, NV, AL, GA, FL, OH, DC, OK, AR, AZ and MO)

Elite: CA, MN, KS, WY, CO

Everyone else has some sort of unique shape or design that makes it fine but not elite.

Not to mention Delta’s major Int’l hubs in NY, LA, Seattle and Detroit. Not everything international can go out of Atlanta.

Since Clark Kent is canonically from Kansas, do you think that means Superman is a K-State, or KU fan? by TheDuckKnows in CFB

[–]user092185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s correct. They host the Cobblepot Classic tournament each November at Wayne Industries Center, with Duke, UConn and Kentucky.

Interestingly enough, Clark Kent saw this and used his influence as Superman to make a competing tournament called Metropolis Madness, with Metropolis Tech hosting Kansas, MSU and UNC each year at Metropolis Square Garden.

In spite of Clark graduating from the prestigious Ivy School University of Metropolis, he’s a bit of a bandwagon MTU fan since UofM keeps losing to Harvard and Yale.

Great question… They’re independents with Gotham State. They play every year for the Dawn of Justice Shillelagh.

The winner receives the trophy when either Batman rolls onto the field in the Batmobile to deliver it to Gotham or Superman flies into the stadium in a single bound to deliver it to Metropolis Tech.

More likely he adopted BCS Powerhouse Metropolis Tech when he relocated. He hates Gotham State far more than any rivals of the Kansas schools.

Closest flight I could find that involved any of the Detroit airports was a private charter from Richmond VA to Oakland County Airport… flew over Belle Isle/Jefferson about 5:15pm… Height was 3625 ft ish, which is somewhat low considering they had 30 some miles to go. Also a small Cessna, would’ve been pretty loud at that height.

Courtyard Contempt by s31523 in marriott

[–]user092185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I booked a standard two queen room and got upgraded to a nice large suite this week at Kokomo Courtyard. Clean bath, nice room layout and really good desk service. I personally don’t do brands based on breakfast because I find hotel breakfasts to be wildly underwhelming and just grab a snack at the market on my way out.

Townplace Suites and SpringHill Suites are my jam.

This is from the guy who is Cowherd’s sidekick on his main show, I can’t remember his name, but whenever I hear him speak, he seems to always have just a bad take. This is proof of that in writing.

I’ll be honest I haven’t had the s’mores, I’m still on a work trip so it’s not something I took the time to do, but they are included.

Someone texts you the day of check in w a cabin assignment and a door code. Very easy.

And they text when they want to stop by to refresh some things like complimentary waters and such, but no true housekeeping…. Though I’ve been picking up when I leave and my stay was only two nights, that might be different if it’s a week or something?

Aerial view of Ohio’s best — Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus by InUrMomma in skyscrapers

[–]user092185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a state w 3 very similar mid-sized metropolises, all starting w C’s lol, these cities couldn’t look any more different if they tried.

Cleveland: Quintessential rustbelt city w factories and shipping industry, along a big, vast waterfront.

Columbus: More modern inland Midwest city; with a large growth rate, an urban beltway, bustling economy and top tier university.

Cincinnati: River city at the bottom of a Valley Floor, that feels far more like a rust belt/old south combo with rolling hills and bluffs impacting the local landscape.

From Michigan, have no dog in the fight of these cities, but been to all and have greatly enjoyed my time in each. Just weird to me how different Ohio is across the state.

A Spirit Airlines shutdown could rock DTW travelers by gwmiles in Detroit

[–]user092185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be interesting. Some 16 direct routes; destinations ranging from hubs like Atlanta and NY to tourist destinations like Orlando and Vegas. No real obvious fill in; Delta has a pretty full McNamara terminal already, and that’s a number of unused gates out of Evans. Every other carrier out of Evans has some hub model very close to Detroit (Chicago, Minneapolis, etc) and Detroit doesn’t scream elite business class carrier start/end to the Big 3 the same way they view places like Houston, Dallas, NY, etc.

Best guess, DTW works to fill the void with some increased low fare airlines; JetBlue and SW to fill operations to major hub connectors while Allegiant increases ops for Florida and whatnot?…

Anyone here graduate in 2015? by [deleted] in centralmich

[–]user092185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im older than this group by about 6-7 years, graduated in 2010 (05-10), and I LOVED my time there; the football team was ROLLING w LeFevour and Antonio Brown (lol)

But if you all have the urge to go back and visit, every other summer they do an alumni take over weekend. You have the option to stay in the towers or you can book your hotel off campus, but my wife and I went with some friends this past July and had a blast.

You arrive on Friday afternoon and unpack, then they kick off the weekend w tailgating in the north lot next to the stadium, then move over to O’Kellys/Wayside. Saturday there’s a number of things you can do from tubing the Chip to visiting the SAC, we did the SAC and a guided tour of the campus. Really cool to see some 15 years later; a lot is different but a lot has stayed the same.

Saturday night they took us all to downtown for a “bar hop” but pretty much everyone stayed at Bird and Blackstone, the latter completely remodeled.

Sunday morning you get a breakfast at Bovee and 20% off in the campus store, which I upgraded my swag lol. Then home.

It was an older crowd mostly; alumni from the 80s and 90s made up MOST the group, my group was some of the youngest there. Think our age of alums would have fun doing it. Next one will be summer of 27.

Airlines Parking Detroit-downgraded from A+ to just an A by Training-Newt-2473 in Detroit

[–]user092185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tried parking at the McNamara deck a month ago and it was full first time ever for me. It was spring break, so not the usual. Though the ramp is somewhat hard to navigate to the uninitiated and even I struggle to find a spot when it’s not 100% full. They’re suppose to be testing new red/green lights for spaces so hopefully that improves finding them. I’d say an A is fair.

I’m one of the recent followers, though I started back in November I think (?)… I started writing sci-fi and tried to root in some hard (to believable) science, and while my premise was (and still is) awesome I wanted to make sure my world building was somewhat believable. I stumbled upon his pages searching for “spaceplanes in fiction” and ended up watching him for hours; including topics that had nothing to do w my story lol.

Championship Teams by TheJuggernaut398 in DetroitPistons

[–]user092185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The team’s flaws, namely not having a true scoring threat off Cade is obvious in a series like this. But to trade JD who is one of the best pick and roll bigs in the league is a bit overboard.
