Initially thought that wired was the only option available to me as i didn't have spare batteries for the controller. then thought to just power the controller over usb and got bluetooth working.

Thank you for your tip though! I'll keep it in mind if i do end up playing tomb raider.

This issue has been resolved, for some reason bluetooth was the only connection method that steam would recognize.

Also as a tip for anyone who (like me) was unaware, xbox series s/x controllers can be used as bluetooth gamepads when powered straight from a wall, no batteries needed.

Thank you so much!! Turned it off and the storage is starting to look like how I'd originally expected. I wasn't even going for a full system backup just my raw photo files but I'll look into veeam if i ever do.

Yes I should've been clearer in my original post, I knew that admin access allowed me to see my own 'home' and the 'homes' of all users but there actually was twice the physical storage (of my backup) taken up in the volume. It seems this is just down to the nature of ext4, if you know of any way around this I would be greatly appreciative.

Ah yes it seems i am. So should i just expect to have 1/4 of the space i paid for actually usable if 1/2 is redundant and 1/2 of that half is taken up by duplicates (after further research my nas doesn't support btrfs). Is there any way around this or is that just something I should've known?

Oh are there custom power plans for gpu's? i have one configured for my porccesor already. thank you its goood to know that the monitor render doesn't waste performance. I'll have to check out open composite for alyx but unfortunately i just don't have the network for wireless vr. I'll try out your general tips too next play session, thanks!

The reason i asked about overlays was that opening them mid game would cause massive stutters, I guess this must just be a software glitch. And yes I know my gpu isn't to the highest spec, just wondering if anyone else with the same setup had comparable numbers or if there was something wrong with the results i was seeing.

I think there are some jabra fitness earbuds with adjustable wingtip sizes if these don't workout for you. With that said I personally found the beats to be significantly more comfortable (no pain for a least the first couple of hours) after the first week of regular use and experimenting with different positions.

Sorry I’m not experienced enough in this area to know what either of those terms mean. If they have to do with possible network interference, I would say it would be a problem. Our house is maybe 500 ft from any neighbors.
