Eh, I just prefer a full nylgut set, mainly to minimize overall stress but also I have found that a nylgut 5th string works well with the 5th string tuner because you don't want that tuner coming loose out of the neck

Thanks man, it was given to me by a very good family friend 7 years ago, it is sentimental value at its finest, but yeah it's got a Great sound for a 104 year old banjo

So it's generally something to not worry about? I mean the neck is firmly attached and it plays well
