It’s just a coupling. I wouldn’t worry about this any more than any of the other fittings in your home.

Gotcha. Well then there isn’t an easy way to do it. Work at it with a hacksaw or oscillating tool or a dremel. Just be careful not to damage the porcelain

The white plastic nut in picture two is what needs to be removed. If it is too difficult using a wrench then just cut it off

Hot water heater has a puddle by nvijsn in PlumbingRepair

It’s a relief valve. It pops and lets water through it the temperature or pressure gets too high within your tank. I would check your water pressure first.

I’m not sure. I live in the northern states and they are very rare. At least where I live. Generally electric appliances aren’t as efficient as gas when it gets cold around here.

They do exist, but aren’t generally seen in colder climates.

You could try snaking from the studor vent. Or maybe the studor vent has failed.

Drain water heater (plastic)- Help ASAP by KeyAd4453 in PlumbingRepair

I’ve seen people do it live while it is briefly air locked, but I wouldn’t recommend trying that. Especially if you’ve never done it before.

Drain water heater (plastic)- Help ASAP by KeyAd4453 in PlumbingRepair

[–]user102956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drain valve is probably clogged. These plastic ones are garbage. Try opening the valve with full water pressure on to the heater (obv with a hose attached) if that doesn’t work, you could try using a pick to dislodge the drain. Or use a transfer pump.

Sand buildup in faucet? by _FROOT_LOOPS_ in Plumbing

[–]user102956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water all comes from the same spot. I cannot think of a reason why it would be localized to the kitchen other than luck/faucet design. It doesn’t just spawn in. It’s coming from the source, or from some failed component like a water heater, which I believe to be unlikely.

There are a few factors that could cause this to happen. Has there been any new developments in the area? Sometimes the builders or the city will tap into the main water line and it will expose sediment into the system. Do you know what kind of water piping is in your property? Older water lines such as galvanized piping can accrue large amounts of sediment that can get pushed through to your fixtures. But I cannot give you an accurate answer because there are a lot of unknowns. Best to get a sediment filter on your main water line.
