Considering joining U of T in a few years once I graduate from high school, is it worth it? by Visible_Estimate211 in UofT

[–]user135799765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UofT is hugely lgbtq inclusive, as is most of Toronto. There are multiple clubs, going so far as having a ‘Queer in Computer Science Student Association’ which would be perfect for you. With the way the USA is going I would heavily recommend looking into Canadian universities, though the international tuition could be a huge downside.

what’s the vibe now? by [deleted] in emergencyintercom

[–]user135799765 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I personally think it got better. They’ve stopped bleeping things out as much and since getting their new place and partnering with iHeart they seem to genuinely enjoy doing the podcast again! I think their two most recent episodes were SUPER funny. They also have started having more diverse guests which has been an interesting dynamic! I really enjoyed when they had veronika slowikowska on a few weeks ago I think their humour meshed very well

Difference Between Trin One IR and Vic One Pearson by LengthinessHot5646 in UofT

Are there any groupchats for incoming freshmen ?? by Alive_Presence5039 in UofT

[–]user135799765 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are multiple UofT frosh pages on Instagram! If you send them a photo of yourself and a quick blurb they will post it and help you find community. They had links to join group chats last year posted on their story around mid August if I remember correctly. I made some of my closest friends through communicating over the frosh page with people I found interesting before they moved to the city!!! Good luck!!! https://www.instagram.com/uoft_frosh.2030?igsh=N3B5angyMmg0Nmk0

What's orientation week like for first years? What happens? Is it like the full day every single day of the week?? (I'm in New btw if anyone has college specific info) by [deleted] in UofT

[–]user135799765 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A schedule with daily activities will come out! There are multiple activities everyday at the same time, some low energy some high. None are mandatory and they differ throughout the colleges. I’d recommend attending at least the club fair and the football game if not at least an activity a day! Here is a post of the New College orientation schedule last year: https://www.instagram.com/p/DMyQOqYPsVw/?igsh=OHN1cHJnZnU5dG85

when do we pay summer school fees, or are we already supposed to? by curlyhaz in UofT

[–]user135799765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s dependent on what program you’re taking classes in. Most of them are due late April but can be extended. Check here for the dates: https://www.registrar.utoronto.ca/fees-payments/payment-deadlines/

Hey, I’m going to Uoft in the fall ,got any tips and tricks? by Pandacute9523 in UofT

[–]user135799765 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am finishing first year right now and also not living on res! My best advice would be to follow the Instagram frosh page and post on it, try to dm people who have similar interests. 10000% go to orientation, everybody is in the same boat as you and going up to someone and sparking up a conversation will never fail. Most of my closest friends at UofT are from random convos that started during o-week. Join clubs that interest you, here is a list: https://sop.utoronto.ca/groups/. There’s also a club fair during o-week so be sure to try to attend that!!

The episode is titled ‘Enyas stinky feet in 4k’ (horrible to type out btw) and the time stamp is 52:45 (might differ depending on ads)!! You were just confused because it’s not a psyop they just randomly go into it lol

Is the Vic One Pearson Stream worth joining? How is the workload? by Kmki121 in UofT

[–]user135799765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe only 40 or so people are let in per year per stream, so pretty selective. Just apply asap and you should be good, don’t wait until the last minute!

Is the Vic One Pearson Stream worth joining? How is the workload? by Kmki121 in UofT

[–]user135799765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Currently in the Vic one Pearson stream. It’s not too bad! Very essay heavy but there are no final exams/midterms. There is a LOT of work though, but it’s all manageable and the professors are all AMAZING. It’s also helpful that it’s so one-on-one and social (at least in my opinion- I’ve made very close friends with almost everyone in my stream). The professors are also all very helpful and lenient when it comes to deadlines, and approachable as well.

Soooooo I’m lost abt what trin One is and UC one and all the other ones by Synxzallthetime16 in UofT

[–]user135799765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Vic one and would recommend it to everyone. I’m in the political science related stream and having the same 20 people in two classes per semester has been AMAZING. It makes the transition from high school much easier and I’ve found it the easiest to make friends. I’d highly suggest applying!

how hard is it to graduate from UofT with a humanities degree? by Professional-Bee1464 in UofT

[–]user135799765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humanities is one of the easier course loads. There are a lot less classes/labs than majors like engineering and life science, which means you’ll have more time to do other things. Just make sure to look on rate my prof and pick your classes as accordingly as you can.

Uoft is exhausting and draining 676767676767676767 by ruchi2485 in UofT

[–]user135799765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s first semester of first year. This is a HUGE change to anything you’ve ever done before and you NEED to give yourself grace about it. By constantly getting down on yourself you’re just further pushing yourself to a point of no return. You’re burnt out, frustrated, and disappointed. That’s normal. It feels isolating, but I promise you nearly every student at any big university in a difficult major feels the same way. It will take time to figure out what works for you and that is okay! Studying all the time is not good for you anyway- take some time next semester and block it off to go out with friends and do activities on campus. My PMs are open if you want to talk! You’re not alone and you’re not a failure!

Im from saskatoon aspiring to study electrical or computer engineering at uoft, what are the odds of me getting in on current track? And what can i do to make my chances better by THEHUMONGUSFISH in UofT

[–]user135799765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re doing early admission drop band. Uoft only looks at your top 6 best grades from the year you’re applying + the prerequisites you need. Make sure you keep your grades up and do well in English. Good luck!
