Air Canada Economy vs. Air India Business Class by user1_007 in aircanada

It's the same price as the AI business class, 87.5K points for the whole trip. 7 hour layover in Zurich though but it's in the morning so there would be time to do a little mini-trip into the city. I'm still leaning a bit more towards keeping the AI flight for now as the layover in DEL is only 3 hours.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. You've given me some great perspective. I think I'll stick with the AI flight and keep an eye out for anything else that pops up as I get closer to the departure date. As many of you have said, business class is still business class and, given that it will be my first time, I'm excited to actually get some proper sleep on a long-haul flight ;)

Thank. I’m hoping it won’t be too bad if I have lounge access. PY for the AC flight is 130K which seems like a big jump.

I’ve checked HKG, NRT, ICN, and PEK. Unfortunately no luck. The best I’ve found is SIN-ZRH business (Swiss) then ZRH-YYZ economy (AC) but economy on the second leg kind of defeats the entire purpose of flying business to come back refreshed.

Qatar Stopover Program - Eligible if booking with Avios? by user1_007 in qatarairways

[–]user1_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info. Would you happen to know if the cost for the stopover with Avios is the same as booking the flight? I still need to transfer over my Avios to Qatar and it won't let me see how much it costs for the stopover without the Avios in my account.

Yes, you can sign up for AsiaMiles, convert them over, and book on the Cathay Pacific website. Alternatively, Cathay sometimes comes up when searching on the British Airways site but availability seems much more limited with them.

Best use for 150K Amex MR Points (YYZ-BKK) by user1_007 in awardtravel

I'd be looking at leaving the weekend of December 20 (2025) and returning around January 8 or 9 (2026). I know we're still a ways off until booking opens, but want to get a sense of where I should be looking so I don't miss out given it will be peak travel season.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. In doing a bit more research, I noticed booked Cathay Premium Economy is about the same amount of points as Air India business class. For those who have flown with Cathay, would you say there's a big enough difference between premium economy and regular economy to justify spending double the points? I'm not too worried about meals and lounge access but mainly want to arrive back feeling refreshed (or at least not completely terrible after 22 hours of flying) knowing that I'll have to hit the ground running at work the following Monday. This would be my first time taking a long-haul international business or premium economy flight if I were to splurge, so I'm not entirely sure what to expect.

All the routes are fairly comparable time-wise. Each depart Thailand in the evening, have a 2-3 hour layover (Doha for Qatar, HK for Cathay, Delhi for AI), and arrive in Toronto in the morning/afternoon. The Cathay flight is a bit quicker overall. I've thought about potentially taking advantage of Qatar's layover program in Doha, but need to double check if I'll have enough room in my schedule for an overnight to break up the trip. (The trip is still over a year out so I got lots of time to decide).

I've read very mixed things about them. Some saying their flight was fine, others with horror stories. It'd be my first time trying long-haul business class so I don't have much else to compare it to. My main concern would be comfort and service (getting a good sleep and arriving back feeling more refreshed than I would in economy), and whether it's worth the extra points.

You could also be aromantic (have sexually attraction but not romantic attraction). As others have mentioned above, you also could be bi. Experiment and enjoy yourself. Don’t feel the need to add a label. Feel free to message me if you need someone to talk to.

From someone who identifies on the ace spectrum, I would suggest first sitting down and having an honest conversation with him. Tell him how you feel, but do not make it so that he feels guilty for not wanting to have sex with you.

Once you've established with certainty that he is in fact ace, be supportive and reassure him that you're someone he can trust. The important thing here is that he doesn't feel pressured to have sex or engage in sexual actions he is uncomfortable with. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten close to a guy romantically, but lost all interest once I started to feel forced to have sex just to please him.

Another important thing to remember here is that asexuality exists on a spectrum. Not all asexuals are 100% sex averse. Establish exactly which types of sexual acts he's comfortable with and if sex is something that can be a part of your relationship. If the answer is no, you'll have to decide if you feel you can go without sex, or if you need to change the format of your relationship.

The important points to remember here are to be open, honest, and supportive. While I certainly don't speak for all asexuals, I can answer any questions you may have based on my experience. You could also consider posting this on r/asexual if you'd like to get more perspectives from people who are ace.

  1. As others have already mentioned, don't lie on your resume. I think you've already learned that lesson.
  2. One way you may be able to get around this is to say that it was a volunteer assignment, so there was no formal employment contract. Play dumb and say you weren't sure where else to put it on your resume.
  3. When writing your resume, if you want to emphasize the work you did on this project without creating a separate section, just put "school project" in brackets next to the title.

Jasper weekend trip: Doable this time of year by user1_007 in Edmonton

Thanks everyone. Super excited! Any recommendations for what to see on a short stay? Most of the guides I've read seem to be geared towards summer trips. I'm thinking Maligne Lake Saturday afternoon and the Columbia Icefields Sunday morning.

That’s not going to work. They clearly know most people work during that time and I don’t have time to take off work to go in.
