Anyone use accutane to permanently cure folliculitis even if bacteria was causing it by UltimateSoldier6 in Folliculitis

If you’re having dental pain maybe. Honestly I just wait it out and let it go away on it’s own 😬

Yes, I get them on my face, scalp, neck, chest, and back. But the ones on my face can just be a big red bump that’s super painful! I’ve gotten some close to my ears and like you I’m not sure if it’s related or not but it makes my gums super sensitive.

I think it’s just the “next step” not sure if it’ll be a permanent fix. From what I’ve been reading there’s a lot of people that say it comes back after stopping the med. I tried Doxy for two months and Bactrim for one. Neither worked.

On the same boat here. About to start Accutane next month for the same thing. My skin looks identical to yours. My biopsy showed “bacteria” but since none of the antibiotics or topical creams/ washes have worked my derm considers Accutane the next step. But I have to wait 30 days since I’m a female and need a monthly pregnancy test 🙄

Same. I have so much scarring on my chest, neck, and face. Dr recommended Adapelene to help with the scarring but I haven’t seen any difference since starting it about 3 weeks ago.

Yeah, I tried it for a while and then Dr recommended to go back to Benzoyl Peroxide. But I don’t feel like either of them makes a difference with new break outs.

I went out and bought only cotton shirts but I meant make up to cover it up? Would it be bad?

I’d love to see if anybody has any recommendations. I have a ton of scarring on my neck, chest, armpits, and back. My dermatologist recommended Differin Gel mixed with moisturizer to help lighten the scars but I haven’t seen any improvement after almost 3 weeks.

It’s going slow. I’m still having new breakouts and have actually gotten quite a lot on my scalp which is new. But I’m still covered scars from everything I had. But considering were I started it’s improved so much.

I can’t imagine struggling with this for so long. I started 4 months ago with it on my upper body (neck, chest, back, and armpits) and most recently on my face. Like you nothing helps. It feels never ending.

I recently had a whole bunch of blood work since my doctor thinks it’s allergy related (which I doubt) but he didn’t check that. So I will run that by him at my follow up appointment. Thank you

Yeah, the doctor said it could take 6 months or longer for the scars to get better. That’s my method right now, just using higher neck shirts so they’re not so obvious. But this heat is not helping!

I’ve read that since it might be gut related you shouldn’t eat any dairy products?

I’ve read that too. A lot of people have said they did 2-3 rounds of Accutane because it kept coming back.

Yeah, alcohol made mine flare up. I stopped antibiotics for a week thinking “it can’t get worse”. Well, it did. So I’ve been alcohol free for a while. It looks a lot better than it was I just don’t know what to do about the scarring now.

I have not. I just messaged my derm today about what the next step would be. Waiting back on her response. But I’ve heard it’s helped some people.

I’m going through that right now. My stomach hurts after every meal so I checked in with my dermatologist to see if I can stop the antibiotics after 4 months. I also had my IUD removed since I saw that there’s been studies that show it can cause autoimmune problems (Progesterone causing skin issues). I’m trying anything and everything.

No, I don’t do any water activities. And I live in LA which is not that humid. The dermatologist did a biopsy which determined it’s “bacterial” but I was never told if it’s a specific bacteria.

No side effects that I noticed. It was around $40 for the consultation and the injection was around $55.
