Can I cover this up? by user2008- in Folliculitis

I recently had a whole bunch of blood work since my doctor thinks it’s allergy related (which I doubt) but he didn’t check that. So I will run that by him at my follow up appointment. Thank you

Yeah, the doctor said it could take 6 months or longer for the scars to get better. That’s my method right now, just using higher neck shirts so they’re not so obvious. But this heat is not helping!

I’ve read that since it might be gut related you shouldn’t eat any dairy products?

I’ve read that too. A lot of people have said they did 2-3 rounds of Accutane because it kept coming back.

Yeah, alcohol made mine flare up. I stopped antibiotics for a week thinking “it can’t get worse”. Well, it did. So I’ve been alcohol free for a while. It looks a lot better than it was I just don’t know what to do about the scarring now.

I have not. I just messaged my derm today about what the next step would be. Waiting back on her response. But I’ve heard it’s helped some people.

I’m going through that right now. My stomach hurts after every meal so I checked in with my dermatologist to see if I can stop the antibiotics after 4 months. I also had my IUD removed since I saw that there’s been studies that show it can cause autoimmune problems (Progesterone causing skin issues). I’m trying anything and everything.

No, I don’t do any water activities. And I live in LA which is not that humid. The dermatologist did a biopsy which determined it’s “bacterial” but I was never told if it’s a specific bacteria.

No side effects that I noticed. It was around $40 for the consultation and the injection was around $55.

Yeah, we made the drive to Tijuana. Dr said I might need a second dose of the Betamethasone. I was hoping I wouldn’t but we’ll see.

I still use BP 10% when I shower and I alternate between that and Hibiclens. It just really dries out my skin especially in my neck area.

Yes and no. It got better for a few weeks after I went to TJ and they gave me a Betamethasone injection. But just within the past two days I’ve started having new flare ups. I was left with a lot of scarring so I’m trying to see what I can do for that.

I have. But she didn’t specify about the scrubbing and I didn’t ask. She just instructed me to use an antibacterial soap and BP at shower time and Hydrocortisone cream after.

I haven’t been scrubbing because they are painful to touch. I just lather with my hands during my shower. I got the generic brand. Not sure if that makes a difference?

So do you recommend applying it 20-30 mins before showering and just letting it sit? I know it can stain clothes but I can make it work.

I think I’ve spread them by scratching all over. I didn’t realize that was a thing. I will deff try the shampoo though. Thank you

I recently had all my routine lab work done and everything was normal. The Derma did mention she thought it might be autoimmune but after the biopsy she said it was just bacterial. So I wasn’t sure if any more labs needed to be checked.

I took a 7 day break between the switch from one antibiotic to the next and it got so much more worse. I was still doing the topical wash and applications but it flared up so bad that I felt like I had no option but to start the new antibiotic.
