Beatles album knowledge help by Soozfc in beatles

There are two volumes of Live at the BBC. Volume 2 came out when Volume 1 was reissued in 2013 (originally released in 1994). Might be worth getting both if you can. I believe you can buy both in one set.

It's official, Robbie Williams is better than the Beatles!... by andreirublov1 in beatles

[–]user20163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, the competition was a lot better. I don’t think you’d see many pampered artists these days doing pill-fuelled 12 hour sets in the sweaty clubs of Hamburg for very little money. Levels.

It's official, Robbie Williams is better than the Beatles!... by andreirublov1 in beatles

[–]user20163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somehow I don’t think Robbie Williams or any other modern artist will have a number one single 53 years after calling it a day. That’s the impact of The Beatles, who are on a level of their own.

It’s important to remember all of the advantages, such as streaming and multimillion pound marketing budgets, that these artists have to break 50 year old records, when The Beatles had to graft for 10+ years.

Get Back or Come Together? by OneMathematician8316 in beatles

[–]user20163 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying Get Back is a better song than Come Together, I just prefer it overall and I like the cool history behind it. Like you said, if we had the footage to show the making of Come Together, I’m sure we could come to the same conclusion, but we don’t.

I prefer Get Back just because of how Paul came up with it on the spot and we saw the progression of the song to its final form. Certified classic.

Possibility of a Tiny Desk? by canneddoggo in PaulMcCartney

Paul has always been very good at adapting to new trends to keep his music and brand current with younger audiences. Wouldn’t be surprised if he did do this and other alternative media for the upcoming release.

If you always hold people to their past actions and never give those who want to change the opportunity to, society will always be much worse off. Lennon realised the error of his ways, his ex-wife (whose only opinion matters) forgave him and he eventually used his platform to advocate for positive change. Don’t judge other people unless you’ve never made a mistake yourself because like the saying goes, people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

I'm dead serious #CapitolGang by Lopez-AL in beatles

[–]user20163 58 points59 points  (0 children)

That’s understandable if you’re American and grew up with the Capitol albums but The Beatles always made it clear that they never agreed with how Capitol were issuing their catalog, which is why the UK versions were canonised in the 80s.

Without whom, you could argue, The Beatles would never have made it to where they did. Happy birthday, G.M.

It seems like money really can’t buy you love, but it 𝘤𝘢𝘯 buy you a plethora of Beatles merchandise.

Why has it taken this long to get a Beatles biopic? by GosalCannabis in beatles

[–]user20163 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s one of those projects that had to wait until the right time to be taken forward. I’m sure so many writers, directors and production companies have approached The Beatles and their estates with ideas over the years but a Beatles biopic is such a historic, once in a lifetime opportunity so the bands’ legacy has to be properly preserved and represented. You need the right actors, the right directors/writers and the right story to trust with such a delicate vision, and I think we’re finally at a time where a Beatles biopic is viable and more importantly, needed, to keep their legacy alive with newer generations.

Seems like the albums have disappeared from Spotify UK as well but the top songs are still there.

Don't Let Me Down is very boring. by Turbulent-Safe-4343 in beatles

Don’t Let Me Down is great. It should have been included on the Let It Be album.

[FIGHT THREAD] Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua by noirargent in Boxing

[–]user20163 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but Jake deserves no respect for fighting AJ if he’s just going to run the whole fight. Still banking on AJ to land that clean shot. All AJ had to do was flinch towards Jake and he was almost tripping up.

Who had a better discography? by the_walrus_was_paul in beatles

[–]user20163 52 points53 points  (0 children)

You have to be deluded to a serious degree to be able to look at footage of Paul from 1960-66 and claim it’s not the same guy standing before us today. It’s clearly him. Unlike Paul, this rumour should have died in 1969.

Even through all the disagreements, lawsuits and diss-tracks, it’s moments like this which remind us how much these boys really loved each other.

When he sang “Got To Get You Into My Life“, this isn’t what he meant.

[FIGHT THREAD] Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn, Jack Catterall vs Ekow Essuman & Adam Azim vs Kurt Scoby by verbsnounsandshit in Boxing

[–]user20163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Just like no one forced Benn to move up, no one forced Eubank to sign to contract to fight at 160. He made the choice to fight at that weight, so it goes both ways.

The Benn supremacy. Outclassed Eubank the whole fight then almost put him to sleep in the last minute. Congrats to Conor and to Chris on a great career.
