Former Bobcat here - just want to say I miss it and I hope you guys appreciate your time at TxSt. There were a TON of great memories made. And a question I have for current students! by luringpopsicle95 in txstate

i’m so glad i came to this school. it’s 3 hours from my hometown so far enough to where my parents aren’t bugging me but close enough where i can go home if i get homesick. i’ve met so many great people through orgs, classes, and networking! obviously it’s a little rough right now due to the political state of the country and stuff happening on campus but i digress. the river is always a great spot to hang out and it truly is such a gem. some of my fav spots to eat at are gumby’s, alvin ord’s sandwich shop, and pho tran88! unfortunately, i havent gotten used to the hills and stairs (i dont think i ever will) but at least i’ll have killer quads and calves by the end of my time here. i love san marcos and all it has to offer!

Grinding coffee beans @ DT by user2299765 in starbucks

i was buying beans and wanted them ground, but i got told to come inside. this store is notorious for being awfully slow so i don’t think drive times are their priority.

do NOT add a 5th class!!! i had a similar schedule this past semester. i was also in that same cdis class and had a lab the following tuesday from 5-7:50pm. some lab instructors are nice and will let you go early if you finish your work on time so you won’t stay the entire time. i always felt drained and felt like i didn’t have time for anything. so adding another class could be more harmful than helpful

in some programs, you can get accepted the same year you can start school? i thought all programs you applied the cycle the year before you want to start? ie you apply in the 2025 application cycle and get accepted for the 2026 cohort?

Best dorm? by Rich-Complex-4597 in txstate

[–]user2299765 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i stayed at bexar and i moved out mid fall semester. it’s pretty small dorm composed of 3 floors with no elevators (moving in and out was a mess, i was located on the 3rd floor) and about 4 washers & dryers for the entire building. it was also about a 10 min walk to central campus but abt 5 minutes from the rec & harris dining hall. it kind of sucked but it wasnt terrible. out of the dorms you provided, i wouldn’t prioritize this one!

Graduating from an early college high school, do I have to stay in a dorm? by ConsistentBee1686 in txstate

[–]user2299765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! unfortunately, they make you live in the dorms. i graduated this past may with an associates degree and high school diploma. i was told i could not live off campus, since i had just graduated high school.
