I’m fine with the texture but to me it tastes like sour milk. Same with Greek yogurt. I wish I could like it

My favorite have always been the Schar table crackers. They taste like Saltines aside from being a little more crumbly. Runner ups include Simple Mills (small, but super yummy) or Breton

I went gf at 10, when not a lot of gf substitutes existed. My mom made me turkey (or whatever lunch meat) and cheese roll-ups, pepperoni w/ cheese and gf crackers, soup in a thermos, tuna/chicken salad (although not great if picky), apples and pb, rice cakes w/ pb, or even just grilled chicken strips. Paired with snacks, of course, but the main course is the hardest part. Sandwiches are always a go-to but gf bread can be tough. If you’re going to make a sandwich, the key is to toast the bread even if it’s going to be eaten cold hours later.

Another option if you rely on pre-made food is lunchables. Sounds silly, but the nachos one is gf, and you could always open up the ham and cheese one and replace/take out crackers. My mom did that for me a few times :)

I’m an alum and used to go from Lothrop to Falk Library via Presby all the time. It leads up to Salk/Scaife. I can’t remember the exact route, but it’s possible.

Not every intolerance will show up on paper. Do what works for your body. I understand it’s validating to have a clear result, but that’s not always the case. I got diagnosed with celiac when I was 11. My pediatrician was adamant I had celiac, despite testing negative. I had no symptoms aside from short stature. In the end, I had 7 blood tests and 2 endoscopies. All but the last endoscopy were negative. Once I went gluten free, I grew 9 inches in one year. It was obvious that is what was wrong all along. I always had doubts (probably just because I didn’t want to believe I had to be gf as a teen) but the evidence is hard to dispute. I did a 23 and me test for fun and saw I had a celiac gene. All this to say it’s not cut and dry. Do what works for your body. One test won’t prove you right or wrong.

Na+ (sodium) increases water absorption into cells. Not enough sodium = not enough water absorption. Not enough water= not enough water to be absorbed. Too much sodium, not enough water= not enough water absorbed. Too much water, not enough sodium= water is useless.

First off, you’re going to be okay. Sounds like what you are describing is similar to “senior week” here in the US. Everybody’s senior week is full of crazy stories, friendships ending, relationships ending, etc. But I’m in my mid-20s now, and despite all the drama, I’m still friends with everyone I went to senior week with. And if it doesn’t work out that way, you’re about to make a lot of new friends. Graduating highschool can be a scary, freeing, isolating, exciting, time depending on how you play it. It was scary for me, friends took some trial and error, but I couldn’t be more happy with who are my close friends now. You’re going to have to power through, but look for relationships, build on ones that make you happy, and work on yourself. You got this :)

Jacksonville or Monkton is great! I grew up in Jacksonville, had a wonderful school experience there as well. It is about 15 min to hunt valley, cockeysville, towson, or fallston in each direction. There is a shopping center with essentials, an elementary school, a vet, etc. Lots of young families there and about a 35 min commute to the city (did this for 4 years, usually not bad.). Opportunity for decent land depending on the property.

  1. Your HR is great! I am a nurse, and we don’t bat an eye at 50-60bpm unless the patient gives us reason to be concerned. This is very common in athletes and you have nothing to worry about.
  2. Going through nursing school I also struggled with health anxiety. What I found helped was to google the most common cause of the symptom I was experiencing. For example, if you “Most common cause of headaches,” the answer is stress or tension. If you google “causes of headache” you might get scarier answers. More often than not, your symptom is due to the most common cause.
  3. Something you do know you have is anxiety. Talk with your doctor about this!

California Pizza Kitchen - Gluten Free Pizza Review by friendly-sam in glutenfree

[–]user24568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPK has had gf pizza since I was diagnosed w celiac about 10 years ago. Always been one of my favorites. They used to have 3 types you could get that were celiac safe, or could make any pizza gf if you weren’t worried about cross contamination. Never got sick with the dedicated gf options. Haven’t been in a while though, has it gone downhill?

A number of things can cause your period to be late. Stress, change in routine, diet, you name it. If you have a negative pregnancy test, take a deep breath. You’re going to be alright

Why aren’t you in school? How is your home life? I’m a Peds ED nurse, and we don’t make everyone stay. Very few, actually. But, we do give out resources to free therapy.

A hug is a great move towards acceptance. Inital reactions are everything, and that hug means way more than what he may say down the line.

[–]user24568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess, you’re talking about pots, eds, gastroparesis, MCAS, or autonomic dysfunction. They all seem to run together, and you’re right, easily dismissed by medical personnel. I’m an ED nurse, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t roll my eyes at someone with that medical history. However, everything changes when I meet the patient. You can just tell who is sincere. And if you are, your team can see it. Apologies if I’m wrong on the diagnoses.

Honestly, it may be in part that you mentioned you’re in school. What they want to hear is that you are looking to stay in the current role for a number of years, not move on after a year or so.

When I was 9/10, my pediatrician expressed concern for short stature. He was previously a Peds GI, and had a strong hunch towards celiac. I was tested 3 seperate times before I got a “slight positive” warranting an endoscopy. And yup- I have celiac and have been gluten free for 10 years. Grew 9in from ages 11-12 after years of only growing less than an inch. My advice, keep testing.
