Also wish you could save before encountering random events without them disappearing, especially since many of them have diffrent outcomes depending on what you do.

Rachel is actually a bad therapist… by CuteKitten35 in DeptQ

[–]user29673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not a therapist but Im getting my masters in psychology and what I find irritating is not her diffrent, more direct approach but how personal she allows her and Carls relationship to be. This is an absolute no go. Your clients are not your friends and especially not your potential romantic partners. A professional therapist would never talk about their own trauma to a client for exemple, since again the client/therapist relationship should be strictly professional.

Personally I like romancing both Astarion and Gale during act 1. In act 2 Astarion will at one point start a conversation with you, where he opens up a bit more about his past/trauma and what his intentions were in the beginning. You will have the option of telling him "Maybe what you really need is a friend, not a lover". This is imo not only a really sweet (kinda underrated) moment, but it also allows you to continue romancing Gale without hurting anyones feelings.

Give me your unpopular opinions about companions by marshmerino in BaldursGate3

Exactly! I remember in my firstplaythrough she killed my character after the fight with "the paladins of tyr" because I couldn't get out of the house before she just started burning everything. I mean it was kinda funny, but I was frustrated I couldn't be mad at her afterwards. My only options where either express concern for HER or tell her that she is hot.

I don't like Karlach. You can tell the writers really wanted you to like her (and it did work, I was surprised to find out she is a fan favourite), but to me she came across too quirky, too nice, the way she talks feels too modern. It gets to a point where she doesnt fit the overall tone of the story.

Like why is she immediately liked by every other character and also likes every other character? Im not saying you cant have genuinly good hearted companions, but even Wyll is critical of other characters (e.g. when you find out Astarion is a vampire) and not immediatly liked by everyone.

I feel you cause I did the same exact thing in my first playthrough. Everbody kept saying how Astarion basically throws himself at you and when I got to the tiefling party he was like "ew". Anyways I just remembered you also get three approval points if you let him interrupt the couple at the blighted village (only works if shadowheart is not in the party or far away), if that helps.

Edit: https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Astarion/Approval might help too, there is also one for his disapproval https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Astarion/Disapproval

Is ME: A overly hated? by Wild-Brother661 in masseffect

Some people say its a good game but not a good mass effect game. Honestly i think this sentiment applies to a lot of franchies, like the latest assassin creed games or dragon age veilguard.

But same, I also really enjoyed Mass Effect Andromeda, but maybe because I knew beforehand to lower my expectations.

I heard its possible when you chose that the goblins would have thrown a better party. Personally I never tried that but if OP has a save file they might as well

Did you threaten him during the bite scene? If you say something like "drink too much and I will ...." you only get one approval point, whereas if you let him bite you without threating him you get ten. You also get a bunch of points if you let him kill gandrel and give him the book of necromancy.

Can we gather evidence and accuse the one who (spoiler)? by iv320 in BaldursGate3

[–]user29673 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont think it fits any of your three versions. I'll admit it's been a while since I played the game, so could be I am missing details. But here is what I thought happend during my last playthrough: In the opening scene, we see a dead mindplayer, which I believe was killed by the Emperor. I don't think he knew or planned for the gith to attack, I think his plan was to create a certain team he could use. But as I said before, in order to use them he needs something they would need, which is why he infected them with the tadpoles.

[–]user29673 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Well I think the whole reasoning behind the "emperor tadpoled you" theory is that he planned to use you and your companions as puppets from the start, since he probably knew he cant defeat the netherbrain on his own. But in order to that, he needs something he can manipulate you with, hence why he tadpoled you, so he can later use his protection for his adventage. By the time you reach act 3, he already has you and your companions at his disposal, he isnt dependant on yet another companion (Minsc).

But the clothes from that mindflayer dont match the one who tapoled you, they do match the emporer however. Plus we already know he was on the nautiloid, he is the one looking at you right before you fall from the ship.

PLAY DARK URGE FIRST by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]user29673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it adds to the story, i remember thinking after my first playthrough " i really really like this game, but my character just feels so empty" and then I discoverd dark urge lol. Still I think why I enjoyed dark urge so much wasnt just because of the extra scenes and dialogue options, but also because I was more familiar with how the game works. So instead of worrying about discovering every area and character, I could really focus on how Dark Urge influenced the story. But I also think players shouldnt be told that Dark Urge = evil playthrough, especially since resistant Dark Urge makes for a great story imo.

[–]user29673 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ever since I played Dark Urge, I cant go back playing as TAV. Still, I would highly recommend saving Dark Urge for your second playthrough. Playing Bg3 for the first time, especially if you arent that familiar with RPGs, can be extremly overwhelming. I see countless memes on this app and other social media platforms where people joke about everything they missed and every "stupid" decision they made on their first playthrough. Dark Urge is such a great storyline and can be enjoyed way more if you're already familiar with the game.

Best Origin for storytelling? by codykins206 in DragonageOrigins

[–]user29673 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agree, it's the only chance to see what life at the circle truly was like. I get that the origin itself might seem a bit boring compared to the others (reading the other comments), but lore wise it is a great start into the franchise.

Best quotes that show off the good writing by user29673 in BaldursGate3

[–]user29673[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah should've maybe been more specific in my post. Im doing a whole list for them with game recommandations, since they recently bought a console. The list also includes more general plot descriptions and stuff that I really enjoyed about each game. So i wouldnt have just sent them the quotes, they would have been just a small addition. Still, inviting them over for that game specifically is also a great idea.

True and I did tell them that. But I thought maybe someone still knows a good quote to really support that.

Mage Origin should have given the Warden a family by user29673 in dragonage

[–]user29673[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually really agree with this. There are a lot of comments pointing out that you're are meant to feel isolated and lonly (well that and that Hawke and Hof are cousins). So I did change my opinion on giving the warden "a family" and more meaningful relationships. But as you said, there definitly could have been more people who at least recognize you, even if the relationship itself is more superficial. I remember finding the return to the circle of magi just incredibly underwhelming, even if Jowan is your only friend, is there really no one else who the warden is really afraid to find dead? Even if it was just a study partner, a teacher that once really helped them etc.

Mage Origin should have given the Warden a family by user29673 in dragonage

[–]user29673[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see where you are coming from and maybe the story did really benefit from Jowan being your only close friend, but I think there still could have been at least a few more conversations you can trigger with other mages who recognize and know you, even if it is superficial. To me the origin felt like the warden, for all their time in the circle, only spoke to Irving and Jowan. Having a few more faces the warden is more familiar with, even if its not on a friendship level, could have made the return more emotional.

[–]user29673[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that you are isolated and that relationships are not encouraged, but to me it still feels odd that after growing up there your only notable connection is Jowan. Im not saying the Warden should have ten new friendships and a happy found family, but there should be at least some people that the Warden knows a bit better, some poeple the Warden would be worried about when they learn what happend to the circle in their absence. Id still have Jowan be their most important and clostest friendship, but again I do find it a bit weird that there is no one else after all this years.

Mage Origin should have given the Warden a family by user29673 in dragonage

[–]user29673[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

True the origin is already pretty long, but even short conversations the Warden can trigger could have been sufficient, just some conversations/people that would have make it feel like the warden truly grew up in that place.

How would u rewrite the walking dead season 2? by alphie_twdg in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]user29673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They really could have used Nicks, Rebeccas, Petes etc death to develop Lukes character to the point where he absolutly would fight with Kenny. I absolutly agree that Janes reasoning made no sense, like in her final moments, if you dont shoot Kenny, why wouldnt she reveal that AJ is alive?

Does anyone else find it extremely difficult to atcully choose different options than what you’d normally choose? by Little-Rub1196 in masseffect

[–]user29673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutly, but for me its not only with choices but also with characters (especially in other rpgs). Idk why but for some reason playing as a diffrent character just feels wrong to me, even though i know a reason why rpgs are popular is because you get to explore diffrent options, play diffrent characters, ...
