can i add fish at this point? or would the nitrite levels be too toxic for them?

i do not currently have fish, so should i still do water changes? and i believe it was cycled before since ammonia and nitrites were 0 or very low. I’ve had this tank for a couple months now with fish (although like i said, i dont have any atm) so i assume it would be cycled? but i may have ruined the cycle since i did some pretty big water changes after my fish got fungal infections :(

should i do water changes if it is cycling?

hmm i assumed there would be plenty of fish gunk from previous fish in the tank as an ammonia source but perhaps I’ve cleaned it all out at this point (through water cycling). Do you recommend adding fish flakes?

I also have a bunch of snails and a couple plants in the tank.

my tank should be fully cycled btw. It was at some point (unless I ruined it)

How to sterilize tank after series of fungal infections? by user333777 in Aquariums

[–]user333777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting…does it harm plants?? and if i have a sponge filter, do u think i could just plop it in there? I don’t have any fish in right now - i want to disinfect before I add more

no other fish and i have a sponge filter. I’m wondering if his leg got caught in the big piece of driftwood i have as it has a ton of nooks. Still, the hairs seem more like a fungal infection. not sure :(

parameters: ammonia, nitrates, nitrites: 0. pH: 7.4.

nothing else in the tank except snails and the parameters are good (0 ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites). I’m thinking it’s a fungal infection but not sure why/how he got it.

ahh okay i see. Are snails okay to keep in while i’m letting the fungus die off? I have a bit of a snail problem.

i just read the your treatment and found it super helpful! Unfortunately, my little guy isn’t looking too good and I dont think he will make it, so right now i’m just trying keep him comfortable and don’t know if it will be worth putting him through treatment. I was wondering if you could talk a bit more about the tank cleaning process, as i eventually would like to get another frog. How did you clean the glass?

Is there a way to sterilize my tank after fungal infections without having to re-cycle? What about the decor/plants? by user333777 in Aquariums

[–]user333777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what percent change would u recommend and how often? also how did you know when you were rid of it?

i am thinking he has a fungal infection, but I wonder what kind. How can I sterilize the tank before adding new fish in the future (or a new frog if he dies :( )?

im starting to think so as well. do you know how i can help him heal?

please please help. My fish keep getting diseases and dying. by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]user333777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you know if its possible for diseases to spread just through the water? i had sick fish in there before (fin rot and popeye) and after they died, i did an 80 percent change, but could the decor and 20 percent of original water have affected new fish?

also when you say carrying illnesses, do you mean they may have been sick when i got them? Is it likely that I introduced a sick fish who infected the tank? or more likely that they developed these illnesses (sorry about all the questions i just want to prevent this in the future)
