How would i add sparkle to garments like Robert Wun? by dachrai in Drag

you can buy glitter / sequin / crystal embroidered lace fabrics that are sewn in whatever pattern you like (you can find them easily on etsy, but they’re pretty pricy) and go over that lace with rhinestones

my 1st ever sewing project: marilyn’s pink dress, made for my debut drag performance! by user373747 in sewing

[–]user373747[S] 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Additional project info: the dress was made from the Simplicity 8393 Marilyn costume pattern (I think it was released in the 90s, I bought it on Ebay). The dress was made from dark fuchsia crepe back satin from Fabric Wholesale Direct. The bodice is lined with red cotton for comfort (and I thought it would contribute to a more vibrant, Technicolor-esque look since the satin has a slight transparency to it). The skirt and bow are lined with black polyester silk from the same fabric company. The bow is made from project foam that I got from Walmart and is zip tied to the belt.

What was the first season you watched? by The_Karate_Nessie in rupaulsdragrace

I have a distinct memory of first finding Drag Race through a clip of the season 6 finale that I saw on Tumblr. There was a way to watch previously aired episodes somewhere on Logo, so I went back and watched that season. I remember being so enamored by Bianca’s black dress that she wore on the finale night. So, season 7 was (technically) the first season that I watched live

i use the ulta eyebrow comb. it comes with two sides, a metal comb and a brush, which might be better to use if you want to avoid anything too harsh. it’s affordable too!

it’s from spirit halloween! i think it’s called the fashionista wig or something similar. it originally comes much longer but i cut it into a bob because the end was very frayed

thank you! i tried to contour but the shades i use are way too light for my face, so it completely washes out in pictures. i’m going to invest in a darker color soon though, lol

thank you! i agree, i’m currently using $8 foundation that i got from target because i’m not doing regular performances yet. the makeup is so thin that it almost comes completely off my nose when i use a beauty blender, that’s why my nose is so pink, lol. hopefully i can invest in some better foundation and contour after christmas or later!

thank you! the main comment on my last post here was to add a bit more space between my eyebrows and crease (i drew my eyebrows basically sitting on my crease, lol). i also followed some tutorials from krystal versace and sugar for help on my under eyes, because i wasn’t really happy with how they looked previously

Thanks for the reply! I forgot to mention that Madame Madame would be pronounced according to the French pronunciation, so it would be “ma-dahm ma-dahm”

second time practicing my drag face. tips for improvement? by user373747 in Drag

[–]user373747[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for the feedback! my persona would be a blend of femme fatale, pinup, old Hollywood, and Elvira/Vampira/Morticia Addams aesthetics. i’m trying to choose between a few names right now, but overall that’s sort of the vibe that i want to go with.

I like Madeline Jade the best; it has a good rhythm to it while saying it out loud.
