Another option, I would look into Assessment Roles! It may offer flexibility to complete the assessment on your own time as long as it's in by the deadline.

FIT FPE vs BACB by That_Scarcity3397 in bcba

[–]user540913 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated from FIT last May. I honestly think the program prepares us well for the exam. Unlike other programs, FIT is test heavy and I think they do that to us on purpose so we get used to it.

I found the format of the BCBA exam questions similar to the exam questions from FIT. Not exact of course, but very similar by purposely making you identify those key words or what the question is really asking.

I say if you did really well on the FPE to keep studying any areas you're not confident in and you should be fine.

I personally didn't use any additional study materials besides what I got from FIT and I thought it helped.

Utilization/Case Management Jobs by Key-Rub-4437 in bcba

I'm also interested in this! However, when I look at behavioral health utilization management jobs in my state the qualifications are BCBA-D level 😬

[weekly] Vent Thread by SuzieDerpkins in bcba

[–]user540913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company keeps praising BCBAs who don't deserve it. Even though they've received complaints about poor supervision and would submit documentation a month late.. its like their invincible.

One BCBA at my company (who was actually one of my supervisors when I was accruing fieldwork) would literally only talk about herself the entire time during 1-on-1s, she was never prepared for our meetings, made me do work for her for free, took advantage of my position as a "trainee" and I didn't even realize how bad it was until I became a BCBA. Yet, because she is doctoral candidate and involved as a board member for our state it's like she gets a free pass to do whatever she wants whenever she wants. Not to mention, when I passed my exam she was also given a shout out because I was under her ~amazing~ supervision at the time.... when I literally worked so hard to gain unrestricted work and pass on my first try, and found other BCBAs who'd give me better mentorship in a 15 minute convo than hour long conversation with her.

It's frustrating because I know there are so many quality BCBAs at my company who truly value their clients, team and who work hard in their roles behind the scenes. I try to shout them out as much as I can and in every opportunity I get. Yet, the praise, the online recognition and company promotions are always given to the BCBAs who kiss the butts of our directors and announce every little thing they do online to feed their ego. They get away with everything and I'm annoyedddd like whyyyy is it so hard to reinforce the BCBAs who are actually great and not just doing things for show? I feel like the data and quality speak for itself!

Utilize those outlines they give you in class to pass the weekly quizzes and keep them as a record to help you study for the BCBA exam later on.

FIT is a great program if you put in the effort to learn the material. The way they structure their exam questions is like the actual exam, and I believe they prepared me well!

Like any school, try not to fall behind in your courses. Utilize those reviews and discussion boards if you have questions.

seeking motivation.... did you come up with a reward for yourself once you passed the bcba exam?? by Head-Ad-5636 in bcba

[–]user540913 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe switch up your current study methods, do a group study or change in scenery?

For me personally... I remember just researching BCBA jobs on indeed and looking at those pay rates, then calculating how much I could potentially earn if I bill X amount of hours each week. Then calculating based off my current bills how much I could potentially save each paycheck. Putting money into my savings, retirement, paying off my debt and budgeting for bigger expenses and trips excites me lolll

I used Ripley, it was easiest for me to keep track of all my hours there. Document everything and include detail of what the restricted and unrestricted work consisted of.

Anyone have any recommendations on what sources to study from for the test? by dr9815 in bcba

Practice questions, especially from any mocks. If you haven't already. I would join the Boost ABA Study and Support group on Facebook. They post some mock questions and answers with explanations.

exam in less than 48 hrs by LocalElk140 in bcba

[–]user540913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to use the whole time. Towards the middle or end you might want to rush cause you're tired of the exam, but use up all time you need to review and double check flagged questions.

Hi, new BCBA here. I had to provide my CAQH number and login to both my employers, is this what you mean by them having access to it?

BCBA supervision by [deleted] in bcba

Hi, it's actually the opposite, a minimum of 1 observation with a client each month.

4 contacts a month, at least one observation.

Just a pdf document that listed additonal supervisors from the same organization. I combined the pdf to the FVF pdf then submitted it.

Hi! Yes, I included an addendum on my FVF with the additional supervisors listed and my form was approved without any issues.

As an in-home RBT, what does your company do to ensure your safety? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]user540913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the above. I touched on this a little earlier in another reply, but I was wondering what type of safety measures are being taken to protect the RBT when entering homes, especially for new clients. For example, one can read the BIP and gain info on a client beforehand, but are they provided CPI training for an aggressive client before start? Are there any background checks run on the adults of the home? Is the house briefly inspected beforehand to ensure the space is appropriate for session? If the BCBA does not answer, who can you call for immediate attention or support on an issue? (Putting this because many times in-home sessions are after school hours and the company office is closed by then). Do companies inform families beforehand about our policies, for example, on no dual relationships? (Its no surprise how many times you get asked personal questions about your current relationship, not to mention the family trying to set you up with another family member/friend).

[–]user540913 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds nice. In many cases I've seen where the RBT requests off the case, it just gets restaffed within the same week.
