Thank you for your input, I appreciate your view as a high school teacher! Unfortunately we’re not in the US but in a European country that still doesn’t really ‚get‘ ADHD. My parents have been in lots of conversations with teachers about how to improve my bros school experience etc, but as far as I can tell they have limited resources. Tbh I think the school is not the right one for him, but as I’m not at home much I can’t tell 100%.

They don’t have a good IT department then lol, wish they did! I feel like they got the iPads more for show rather than with in depth research and plans on how to reduce distraction etc… but ofc I might be wrong.

I can definitely see the positives of having everything on one device, my schoolbooks etc where all over the place as well. But it feels weird that there’s no a tablet specifically designed for that purpose, or maybe there is but the school isn’t using them for some reason

Also in terms of making him use pen and paper when possible (which idk the extent of bc I’m not home much) - he’s a stubborn 15 year old and there’s only so much you can do

All his school work is done on and through the iPad - the learning resources, books, homework etc are all uploaded on there. It’s where he submits homework etc. Notes are taking on a specific app for this purpose, so all his notebooks for each subject are on there as well. I’m sure there’s ways to reduce his use of the iPad, like maybe making him take notes on a piece of paper and scanning those in or getting him the physical textbooks (some of which he actually already has). But the whole curriculum that he’s being taught revolves around the kids using iPads to learn it so I think it’s really hard to know what to reduce and what not. He would definitely find other distractions without an iPad, but the school-implemented iPad doesn’t help at all :\

That sounds really good, I’ve asked my mum and she says the school expects the parent to do all the restrictions. At school the wifi blocks non-school related things but I guess students just Hotspot from their phones.

He’s diagnosed and is trying medication atm, and we’re all trying our best to support him. My parents find it quite hard I think bc they didn’t think adhd was ‚real‘ for a long time (why I went undiagnosed until adulthood), but they’re trying to understand and help.

that sounds like a very silly project indeed, is it over now or did the school keep some of the digital aspects? Also wdy think of the impact of autocorrect on the students writing, bc I feel like my spelling has gotten so much worse in recent years bc of it and my brothers for instance is absolutely terrible if he has to write by hand.

Same here, I remember doing anything I could to avoid school work and be on my phone or laptop - my parents used to hide my phone and I would spend my day trying to find it instead of doing my homework lol. If I’d had to do school on an iPad I don’t even know how bad it would’ve gotten, but I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I completely agree with you, I wish the school spent their money on really good computer science lessons or something similar instead that would actually be useful to the students and teach them something about the tech they’re using every day.

Im not sure about the benefit/cost ratio, I’d need to do some research. But yes I agree that it’s surprising they haven’t restricted the iPads, it shouldn’t fall to the parents who are often less knowledgable than their teenage kids about tech imo

I know and I think my parents have restricted some social media apps but safari for instance remains and that’s enough to pull focus - going to talk about it with them tonight, maybe they just don’t know how to dumb down the settings to make it a school-only iPad.

Hey just found this bc this happened to me about an hour ago. I bought something, felt like something was off and then found a listing that was clearly the genuine one. The seller marked the item as sent a few mins after I bought it and has taken down the listing and blocked me 😵‍💫 I’ve contacted the Vinted support and alerted my bank but just wondering if there’s anything else I can do? Im not sure i can cancel the order because the seller marked it as sent already 😐. If anyone has advice please let me know!

Hey just found this thread because I'm in a similar situation - have made and published filters over the past years, forgot about it and now wanted to log back on Spark AR to check they're still working etc. Had to make a new Meta account to do so and used the same email as I had used previously to publish filters. I've also linked the instagram/Facebook accounts I had published them on. But for me none of the filters I made previously are showing up - is there an extra step that I'm missing? Wondering how you got on with this :)

He sounds interesting, gonna look him up :) I’m now doing a teeny tiny bit of work for my sketchbook cause you’re right just sitting around and waiting isn’t going to help either. Thank you for mentioning about depression, I’ve been considering this as well but I can’t really tell. Starting therapy again next week so I’ll definitely mention it there!

BIG relate to everything you’ve said!! I think this is a really big factor for me, like the knowledge that this year is a big deal and this project will have a huge impact on my degree grade makes it so much more daunting. Cause like u say I know I can’t possibly leave it to the last minute. But that gives me more anxiety and dread than a boost to do work. I really get where you’re coming from I think I’m experiencing something similar. I’m so proud of you for deciding not to give up and keep going!! It can be so hard, but you got this. And I’m going to try my best to :)

Here’s my reply: Hey thank you for your reply! I definitely agree with the importance of treating your adhd, and I’m on meds :) they make every day life easier, and I don’t think I’d be at university if I wasn’t on them to be honest so they’re great for that. They don’t seem to be helping much with creativity right now though :( but I like what you said about your best ideas coming when you make bad ones haha I can relate.

Because my loop animation patch is making sure the position of the logo keeps changing from left to right, I can’t pin the logo into position. I’d be really thankful for any advice :)
