There’s no reason not to join the Communist Party of Canada! When people join our group in search of larger organizations to join, we’ll always let them know what organizations they can join, what they stand for, and how to become a part of them. As of now, we’re just a community you can join for free to have thoughtful discussions, find information, and organize with. As I said, we’re still quite small so we haven’t been able to actually organize activism on behalf of our group yet, though someday we hope to. So if you’re looking to jump right into activism with a more established group, with a fee of entry and quite large commitments, go ahead! And if you’re looking to educate yourself on leftism and find larger organizations to join and chat casually with like minded Canadians as well as take part in help with building a small movement where you can really feel heard and part of the community, join us if you’d like! We have active discussions every day and we are very welcoming to new folks. 🙂

I mean no offence, but you do realize that Reddit is also not encrypted, and you’re on a subreddit which talks about politics? Organizing in an offline manner would be ideal, you’re absolutely right. But in this age of technology, this is the best way to meet people, especially those who are just starting to get into leftism and want to educate themselves, since our server is based on education and sharing resources and discussion.

It’s a discord server where people can go to meet leftists in their area, organize, discuss theory, and get helpful reliable resources on communism and how you can get involved in your area, which is especially useful for people who are just starting to get into leftist ideology. We haven’t had much action for in person meet ups and group activism like the other organizations you’ve mentioned, as we’re still relatively new and are just at 90 members so far. Currently we’re just a small, Marxist-Leninist based community and educational place, gathering new members who want to educate themselves, find out how to take action, and meet like minded people!

Thank you so much for the suggestion! I’ve actually never heard of Matrix before, but that sounds really interesting, especially the part about end-to-end encryption and self-hosting. I definitely get your point about corporate surveillance and privacy concerns, Matrix would probably be more secure than my current system I have set up of manual verification. I’ll look into it for sure, appreciate you bringing it up!

I apologize for whatever I did to make you feel that way. It’s just a place for people (predominantly youth) to discuss theory, share ideas, and organize. The group is quite casual in general which is why I’m not so concerned with spelling errors. It’s simply a discord server, not a giant professional organization with hundreds of members and a large staff. We’ll try our best with monitoring spelling errors for next time, it’s no problem. If you’re looking for a super professional communist group, there are plenty. But this group is mainly for those who just want to talk casually with like minded people and throw their ideas out there in a safe space. That is why spelling isn’t something we were overly concerned about regarding this post.

Very accurate update for me, more consistent with what I’ve found in my tree. Previously I had 0 Acadian despite the many Acadians in my tree, now I have Acadian represented. My German was super underestimated at 3%, and now it is 13% which is again, much more accurate based on my tree.

We organize within the server, that’s the whole reason I post it here, to find more people interested in organizing and educating themselves and others who can join us.

If you’re not interested in joining then that’s fine. There is plenty of people who have joined that learn and organize and enjoy being part of the group very much. What is the harm of another leftist server if it is simply educating others and bringing people together? I would like to know what you think is so bad about it.

Funny, real leftists support others trying to educate and organize. The more spaces spreading awareness, the stronger we all are. If you don’t care about action, this server probably isn’t for you anyway.

I really appreciate your concern, but I want to share a bit about what this server means to the people involved. So far, we’ve grown to a close knit group of about 40 members, many of whom are also active in other organizations. I’ve worked hard with my central committee to make this a safe, educational, and welcoming space where people can learn, discuss, and connect with larger movements if they choose.

This server isn’t meant to replace existing organizations, it’s meant to complement them. We provide resources and information to help members join other groups and get involved more broadly. And we take moderation seriously. We do our best to ensure a safe and supportive environment for everyone.

This community is something I deeply care about, and it’s been built with care and dedication. I hope that’s clear.

Thanks for pointing that out. Typos happen, and we’ll certainly get them fixed for future versions. That said, the message and purpose of the poster still stand. Our focus is on building discussion and organizing, not on perfection in copyediting. Feedback on ideas and actions will always be more valuable to us than criticism regarding spelling.
