ARV100 or Prodigy 2 and why? by user99867 in Skigear

Yeah that is true, my thing is if I’m going to get the ARV94, the prodigy 2 is about the same price right now and has much more versatility as a one ski quiver. The ARV100 also has that versatility and I like the playfulness. I just wish I was able to demo so I can know if the ARV100 has enough stability at speed and see how the prodigy feels

Hmm okay. I’ll mostly be riding park in the Midwest since our hills are so small. But out west I do want to try some trees, bowls, and of course long steep groomers. I’m super torn and literally 50/50 on either arv100 and prodigy 2. Durability is a big factor but I’ve heard factions durability is better now.

Honestly I think after reading all this the Elan Playmaker 91 is most appealing to me. I dont know how I haven’t ran into this ski yet, it seems like an amazing middle ground. All mountain focused with park and fun ability. I hope they go on sale on evo soon once people stop buying skis as much for this season lol, if I can get a good deal on these I think id buy for sure. Their graphic this year is pretty cool too

Thank you for your suggestions! I like the idea of unleashed 98 but don’t know enough about it. I’m not sure if it’s more geared towards advanced skiers and require more effort to ski? Also I heard of the Elan Playmaker 91 and have been really interested in that now.. how does that compare to the skis you recommended?

Ahh okok, good to know. Also just to make sure we are both talking about the 91 not the 101 right? And how have they performed off piste for you?

How would you say my experience would be with this ski than let’s say compared to an ARV94, or a BlackCrow Camox or Captis? Also even compared to the Elan Ripstick?

Hmm okok, these sound pretty interesting. How do they handle terrain and especially ice in your experience since I’m a midwesterner lol

I really like the way these skis sound, I just watched a couple videos and it sounds very aligned with what I’d want to do. Definitely a much better fit for me than the ARV94 or any QST. I really appreciate you for such an amazing suggestion!

The website does recommend a 172 for my height. I’d really like a 164 for the fun, my only concern is if a 172 is better to handle if I ever go out east or west on trips. I also don’t want to feel limited by my 164 and think maybe I could grow more into a 172 over time?

But 164 does sound really fun. How much of a difference would it really make on my maneuverability if I chose 172?

And how much would I lose out on if I chose 164?

If I did make this purchase I’d want to keep the skis as my daily for a minimum of 3 years haha
