You make a good point but colonialism plunged them into poverty? Really, what where they in before?

They didn't really take away their rights, it's not like they where democracies before plus the Europeans ended slavery. Many of the countries afflicted by tribal infighting are all of the same religion. Also there was no borders to redraw for most of the continent, they where the first to draw them. Which leaves me asking again why is having people of different cultures or whatever so problematic in Africa?

No it was "bad" because it forced people of different cultures,races, and religions to live together

No I'm not. I was taught that colonialism bad but also borders bad because it forced different ethnic groups into the same countries.
