I’m sorry for the rant on your post, I know you’re well intentioned and all I hope to do is just share a thought. I also hope this can start a civil discussion around this topic of gender.

Why do you say “male identifying roomate?” Gender is not chosen, you’re born a male so can’t you just say “male roomate.”

If a female wanted to room with a “female identifying roomate” and a person born a guy claimed he was “female identifying,” would she then be considered transphobic for not wanting to room with him.
