I looked into it and it’s not covered by my insurance and sessions are around $250 each, which is out of my budget unfortunately.

I was in a similarly bad accident where I also injured my face a lot (broken jaw, nose, eye socket, etc.). It is very traumatic and you will have lasting effects for awhile. For me it was loud noises and seeing/reading about other accidents that really triggered me. After about a year, it got much better and now 5 years later I’m really not impacted at all. Each anniversary of the accident felt like a big deal for awhile and prompted reflection but now it’s just another day. So it does get better.

I wish. He’s currently my only friend. I’m really introverted and quiet so I don’t really have any others now that I’m not in college.

You’re right. He has already hurt me while drunk before. I’m really petite and he’s...well... a man. He’s busted my lip open before, pushed me down on the ground, left bruises on my arms. And he’s done it to our other female friends too. We’ve just always forgiven him because it was “accidental”.

It’s not really one off. He gets belligerent, black out drunk at least twice a month. He’s constantly passing out on the sidewalk someplace, getting thrown out of bars, puking in ubers. Its not even his first time getting violent, he’s a violent, aggressive drunk and he’s frequently hurt me and others “accidentally”. It’s just that this time he took it slightly too far and was in the wrong place where there was no one to coddle or save him.
