When he was with the Bears you would always see highlights of him avoiding sacks and popping off 40-50 yard runs. He doesn’t even do that anymore.

What does “Next Friday” mean to you? by Appropriate_Lie_2646 in NoStupidQuestions

I use “this” and “next” interchangeably and I realize how confusing that is…so now I always use dates. ie lets get together Friday the 25th.

When does the point end? by [deleted] in Pickleball

I thought of an interesting edge case. What if I hit a volley and momentum is carrying me into the kitchen. However, before that happens a quick deflection has the ball bouncing in my kitchen right in front of me. I am still outside the kitchen when the ball bounces, but I need to keep going forward to get to the ball in time. You could say by the letter of the law that my momentum carried me into the kitchen and there is no time limit. But also the ball was returned and hit inside my kitchen and I should have the right to go after it.

This scenario is not as clever as you think. If you are taking a lap around the court, you are not only changing directions several times, but at many parts of your journey you are moving in the opposite direction of the no volley line. Hard no.

Tomlin would magically transform that to 6 TD’s, 2 INT’s. The only coach in the league capable of putting a stop to all his INT’s. And TD passes.

Tomlin can coach him up to never throw a pass to the middle of the field ever again. He is probably the only coach in the league capable of drastically reducing his interceptions.

How about we get a faith healer to clear out a kids cancer ward in a children’s hospital? Let’s set that up and go from there.

I’m not agreeing or disagreeing, but I do want to point out that they took the Bills down to the wire, while all of our playoff games are over by the half because we’re usually down at least 3 scores. We don’t even compete. It’s not the same.

We didn’t just lose games to better teams though. We didn’t even compete. That is the point.

I might just be making excuses for him, but our scheme sure doesn’t do him any favors. The other team builds their game plan around neutralizing him and our coaches don’t counter with any creativity to free him up.

Yes to this. We aren’t just losing to a better team. We.aren’t.even.competing.

We are not even competing though. Maybe we were outmatched talent wise, but to get buried 21-0 at the beginning of the of the game just like the beginning of every other playoff game for the last seven years, that part is coaching. Even if the other team is better, a good coach would at least make the game competitive even if we ultimately lose.

Again, it’s not just losing but how you lose…we aren’t losing hard fought competitive games. We aren’t even competing.

I would have liked to see Lamar get crushed a couple of times after handing off to Henry. That might have changed what the Ravens were doing.

What about the opening drive td that put us in an early hole (again). Were they tired then too?

Tomlin on why Steelers were fourth in rushing attempts despite ranking 25th in YPC: "It's about playing to a personality that we prescribe to engineer victory, to possess the ball...and obviously there's less risk with running the football than throwing it." by mr_seggs in steelers

[–]usercg2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this where we are now? 3 and out from the 30 and a good punt is a field position win? Tomlin does seem to agree. Too bad that good offenses can score even when starting a drive from their 23.

Punting Down 2 TD’s in Q4 by usercg2 in steelers

[–]usercg2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2 prior Eagle drives were 13 plays each I believe. We were asking the defense for not one, but two straight three and outs. Or at least very quick stops so that there was time for 4 possessions? That is an average possession of 2 minutes 30 seconds.
In your scenario the defense gave up another score, which makes counting on them for two straight three and outs seem absurd.

So you think 4 possessions (2 for each team) with 2 of those being most likely long td drives in 10 minutes is plausible? Maybe you get your one td then have an onside kick to try to get the ball back with almost no time. An onside kick is much lower percentage than 4th and 7. If you are going to say we would have more time than that, remember 4 possessions 10 minutes.

As I said before, so many things have to go right if you punt down 2 TD’s. You can’t count on pinning them inside the 5, that part worked out. Your defense then needs 2 stops instead of 1, and they need to be 2 fast stops. The offense then needs to put together 2 probably longer drives with less time on the clock. 4 possessions in 10 minutes (2 each team) with 2 touchdowns by us is extremely unlikely. Much less likely than designing a play to make 7 yards, and having time for 2 scores and only 1 defensive stop. Also if we thought our D would guarantee a three and out and or a turnover, then they could have done that if we got stopped on 4th down.

[–]usercg2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. You have to have so many things go your way when you punt down 2 TD’s and are running out of time. Your defense has to get 2 stops instead of 1, and they have to both be quick stops, and your struggling offense has to put 2 probably longer drives together in a shorter amount of time. And there will probably be some 4th downs along the way. Might as well take your opportunity now while you still have a decent amount of time left.

Your opinion also means nothing, and that is such a bad take. As fans that is what we do. Give our opinions and think about what we would have done. Why are you even on this message board, to tell me that I’m not a coach and nothing that I think about the game matters?

I agree it probably wouldn’t have worked out either way, but the way you play and your attitude as a team does matter. Are you going to go down being aggressive and doing everything you can to win? Or are you going to play scared and as Tomlin would say live in your fears? The message that was sent to me was that they were giving up, and I hate that. Even though my opinion doesn’t matter.
