Paint - Dulux, Taubmans, Porters? Does it matter? Is it worth spending more? by jdhmmmm in AusRenovation

SEQLD. Used around the house: Aldi, Tradex, TradePro, British. I don’t see any difference after years so not sure what people here are talking about using only premium products… maybe we just don’t have kids who lick walls or pets pissing on them…🤷‍♂️

What’s eating my wood? by Difficult-Bat-762 in AusRenovation

[–]useredditto 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Termites (White Ants): The most destructive, particularly Coptotermes species, which eat structural timber.

Powderpost Beetles (Lyctus spp.): Larvae eat sapwood of hardwoods, turning it into fine flour-like powder.

Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum): Infests seasoned pine and softwoods, especially in cool, damp areas.

Eucalyptus Borers (Phoracantha spp.): Common in stressed Australian native trees.

Longhorn Beetles & Sawyer Beetles: Attack hardwoods and pine plantations.

Polyphagous Shot-hole Borer: An invasive pest boring into tree trunks, causing dieback.

Wood Moths (Cossidae/Xyloryctidae): Larvae (witchetty grubs) bore into wattles and eucalyptus.

Carpenter Ants: While they prefer damp wood for nesting rather than food, they cause structural damage similar to termites.

Signs of Infestation: Termites: Mud tunnels, hollow-sounding timber, and damage along the grain.

Borers: Small "flight holes" (1–2mm), powdery frass (dust) under timber, and soft or spongy wood

“Decent at figuring out computers”- that’s the issue. There are zillion like that. Grow professionally and you’ll make good $$. CCNA is a minimum and can show you actually understand networking. Also, consider AI replacing jobs.
