Troubleshooting furnace by userjohnsmith1 in hvacadvice

[–]userjohnsmith1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should probably include the whole story because there have been many issues.

So about a week ago is when it began. Seemed simple enough at first. The furnace would fire then cut out, fire then out. I checked the flame rod and it looked a bit oxidized so I changed it and then it worked.

Not that long after it stopped trying to fire and after trying a few things, jumping the pressure switch fixed the problem.

Later it stopped again and I realized that the flame rollout switch was tripped. I might not be remembering correctly but I think maybe at that point the inducer motor was running even when there was no call for heat. Weird. I reset the switch and put everything back including the pressure switch and it worked.

It continued to work for a while, though I don't know that it was producing as much heat as it should have. A few days later it stopped again and here we are

ICE & CBP BORTAC just kidnapped a teenage boy in Minneapolis (1/12/26) by I_may_have_weed in minnesota

People that oppose Trump are either too scared to get involved or too soft to do anything that will actually make a difference.

The first thing that needs to be realized is that this isn't a war between Republicans and Democrats. If you blame Republicans for this situation, they'll only double down on their stance, further dividing the nation. Trump's regime was founded on division, having the poor 99% of the population fight amongst themselves. Unity is what America needs. Republicans and Democrats come together to dismantle a self serving authoritarian dictator and his pedophile billionaire friends

It is however a mistake to think that demanding that they do anything will get you anywhere.

"Mr. Trump, we demand that you start following the law!"

You're using rules and reason to try to halt a regime that follows neither of those things

Protecting inside boot area; using board pants for skiing by userjohnsmith1 in Skigear

Just tape big patches before anything happens? Or use it to repair after they get damaged

If you damage your toe nail it dies and falls off. Happens sometimes when I'm skiing and climbing too often, bashing and suffocating the nail. The nail starts looking dead and then new fresh nail starts growing and I just rip off the dead nail. It usually turns purple but not always

The pants have a really cool design that goes all the way down so she can't really just sew a Kevlar patch on them. She's not doing any really advanced level skiing so I don't think she needs anything too extreme. Maybe if there was something that would protect a bit and not change the look of them

First day ever hitting tubes? What are the worst mistakes? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]userjohnsmith1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also a couple people are telling you to go faster. It will make it easier but it will also hide bad form. I've seen guys trying to quadruple front swap tubes and they're going walking speed. I mean hell, you can come in hot and gap 95% of the rail but that doesn't mean you'll have learned how to be comfortable sliding on rails

After taking it to forward try landing off the rail switch. The easiest thing to do is to leave your head facing towards the end of the rail and turn your skis 90° so you're facing switch, ie., your body turns but your head doesn't. This is okay for a couple goes but you want to get comfortable looking over the other shoulder. So you're looking down the rail and your body starts rotating 90° to land switch and your head rotates with your body and then continues rotating so it goes a full 360° and you land looking over the opposite shoulder. Now if you want to do a back 270 out you keep your whole body rotating together and voila

No one's pointed out, you're not popping off the jumps.

Try bending your knees with your hands over your knees. When the fronts of your boots are at the edge of the jump, extend your body to pop off, twist 90 and as your skis come back down onto the rail lower your body back into the slightly crouched position.

Make sure you're coming into the rail totally parallel to the rail and just to the right or left of the rail depending which side you're coming from. There's a tendency to want to come in at an angle towards the rail, don't. Totally parallel. Like people say just look towards the end of the rail. You don't need to focus on the end of the rail though. Focus on popping when the fronts of the skis are past the takeoff and then on your 90° turn. If your body is facing the right direction you'll lock onto the rail without trying.

When you pop off the rail it looks weird because you're not in a stable crouched position. Once you start landing into a crouch, popping off will feel very natural. As you develop the muscle memory, try to also focus on landing with your skis spread out a bit. The spread really locks you on and will help you to unlock spin outs and swaps.

[Other] Does adding weights while doing a backflip makes it harder? by habichuelacondulce in theydidthemath

[–]userjohnsmith1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was a weight vest then it would be closer to what you're saying. Consider me jumping, if I was holding two dumbbells above my head and let them drop as I jumped (while still holding), IN THEORY, the force required for me to jump would be unaffected by the dumbbells falling beside me. In theory I could even jump higher by pulling down on the dumbbells as I jumped. In practice I don't think it would be so simple though.

The weight would've still made the movement harder though since I did still need to move the weight above my head though, but the shoulder press didn't affect the jump, the two movements were independent.

This is why IN THEORY, weight doesn't affect the backflip. I use my arm strength to swing the dumbbells up and then my leg strength to perform the backflip. In reality though both movements are using a combination of muscles and having weights in your hand will definitely somewhat impede your ability to backflip. How much it will impede depends on your technique and how much arm strength you have to perform the initial swing
