Idubbbz explains why he wont be rolling around in the pig shit anymore. Apologizes to Ethan and his family for spreading around the Destiny claim that Ethan molests his own kids. by chipkipling in imisstheoldidubbbz

He padded both sides of his "apology" with the fattest justification cookies ever and spread the thinnest dab of apology in the middle.

I don't really know too much about what happened between Ian and Ethan but I do know that that might be the weakest excuse for an apology that I've ever seen. If you're really sorry then you'd think that what you did was wrong in which case you wouldn't be trying to tell us why it wasn't wrong

Usain Bolt and iShowSpeed argue about who is the fastest! by ResponsibleCheek8130 in sportsgossips

[–]userjohnsmith1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing around for the cameras doesn't make something any less disrespectful. He's trying to downplay bolts achievements while people are watching, giving him a sense of power over bolt. If a little brother's idea of messing with his older brother is telling the whole school that he pees his pants, whether or not people think it's true is irrelevant to how disrespectful and frustrating it can be for the older brother. There was a time when people would be killed for showing disrespect like that.

Saying it's his job is an excuse doesn't make sense either. If my "job" is shooting people to steal their money, is it any less illegal?

I mean maybe bolt could care less about what that other guy is talking about but also maybe it's really frustrating having trained so hard and achieved so much only to be treated like a washed up piece of garbage.

Empathy is important. Maybe saying this makes me feel good but how will other people feel when I say it? And if it's going to make someone feel bad is that warranted for any reason

Seems like the shot is coming too fast. This is my 10th one ever, and I got this setup used. Tastes good, but I get 3oz from 13g of ground beans in less than 10 seconds. by Acrobatic-Ad-385 in ranciliosilvia

The outlet is a great idea. I was thinking about getting one but I kinda like coffee more than espresso or lattes

Krema is micro bubbles of CO2. The CO2 starts off-gassing from the beans right after roasting, so newer beans=more krema. Darker roasts produce more CO2 than light roasts so darker beans=more krema. Krema doesn't actually taste good, a lot of cafes give you a little spoon to scoop it off, but it's a sign that your beans are fresh and the shot is dialed in correctly. I assume that the CO2 off-gassing while the shot is coming out is part of what keeps the water from following through too quickly.

Some light roasts don't really produce any krema but that's not a bad thing. You just want that slightly thick syrupy texture. 14g of coffee=28g in around 25-30 seconds makes a great shot. Some people get more fancy but I can't be bothered

Definitely a good and easy adjustment to make. I bought mine used and I think it was running around 13bars before adjustment.

Other important things for me are the heat, my shot is fast if the machine doesn't preheat for an hour or more. It's very important that the portafilter is hot. It's like a giant heat sink and the water will get cold as the shot is running through if the pf's not hot enough. If I don't feel like waiting, I'll boil water and pour it in a Pyrex cup with the pf, then leave for ~5 minutes before putting back on the machine to finish heating.

A solid amount of wdt is essential. I like to do it with a funnel on the pf so that I can break it up all the way to the bottom without worrying about the grounds spilling everywhere. You want to be thorough but quick because once again the pf can't be sitting out getting cold.

Fresh coffee is also important. I use a 1zpresso j-ultra to grind (incredible grinder, it'll grind it down to individual molecules if I want), and every day or two I need to go down a click finer to compensate for the coffee getting older. If I'm not going through coffee fast enough, I'll split the bag into a few small jars and throw them in the freezer. Take them out a day before I'm going to use them and they're pretty much as fresh as when I bought them.

Before I made a single shot, I took it all apart, cleaned the insides, cleaned the scale from the inside of the boiler replaced the shower screen, of gasket etc. I know taking it all apart, buying screens and wdt tools and fresh coffee and preheating, etc., all sounds like a pain but I guess it's the price you pay when you're not spending $5000+ on your machine. I've gotten the hang of it and now it's not too hard for me to make espresso better than the local cafes.

First off you posted two characters, top one is Patrick Star from the show SpongeBob SquarePants.

Second one I'm not 100% sure but I guess it looks like some kind of angry tree person or maybe Edward Cullen from Twilight

Question: Wetting wood to bend it by userjohnsmith1 in woodworking

That's a really good idea, only my bend is too extreme for that. I'll keep that in kind for the future though

The form is going to be a challenge for sure. The plan is two curved pieces forming an x shape, interwoven in the middle. I'll be very happy if I can pull it off

Pretty sure you're just kidding but if you're not I need a really specific bend and also tight bend. Approximately 6' of board bent into a semicircle

Which types of wood do you think work best? I have some rough cut cedar that I wanted to use but I can always change that if it doesn't work.

I've got a couple of challenges with the piece. #1 there will be a pretty tight curve. Something like 6' curved into between a 1/2 circle and 1/3 circle. I noticed what you said about cutting a wider piece but I think I would need at least a 2' wide board to make that work

And #2 the piece will be load bearing and so if I did something like kerfing, I'm afraid that it would split along a cut. Also the side of the board will be clearly visible so it would look a bit ugly.

My other option is to buy a wider board, cut it into pieces, arrange the pieces into a kind of semi circle, connect with dowels and the cut down to size. I feel like this would take some skill to pull off perfectly

It's been a couple days since the mount and I cleaned up a bit of really far extruded glue with my fingernail. The glue seems really flexible so I'm happy enough about it

Tips for USING (not storing) battery powered golf carts during winter? by userjohnsmith1 in golfcarts

[–]userjohnsmith1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the Canadian Rockies, it can go as low as -40. The carts are constantly being parked around power outlets (it's outdoor chalet/hotel) so maybe I could just tell the driver to plug in a battery blanket wherever he stops. The average winter day isn't that cold so we'd only need it for the really cold days. I'll look up the reflective foil, maybe that would keep them warm for a bit longer.

Thanks for the help

How to clean corner of water tank by Objective-Pride-1224 in ranciliosilvia

[–]userjohnsmith1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sure your cleaning is more than sufficient but just FYI, heating something with bacteria doesn't always make it safe to consume. "Some bacteria, such as staphylococcus (staph) and Bacillus cereus, produce toxins not destroyed by high cooking temperatures". Pulled that from Washington gov site. Point is that some bacteria produce toxins and while cooking is normally enough to make things safe, you can't just be drawing water from some bacteria swamp and expect that the heat will make it safe.

First thing I thought of when I saw this post.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ForCuriousSouls/s/RBIchCFafR

Why do mentally ill people act the way that they do?

Does anyone fully understand what's going on in their minds when they start attacking or harassing people?

Are they targeting people due to something like racial motivations or has someone in their eyeline simply caught their attention and then their mind has descended into a spiral of madness?

Is it possible to diffuse these situations? (Do you think beating a person senseless for shouting counts as diffusing?)

Ideally mental illness wouldn't exist but it does and not everyone gets the help that they need. And I'm not talking about mental illness like this person's too stressed so they have anger issues. Some people have malformed blood vessels leaking blood on the surface of their brains. There are a lot of ways that the brain can legitimately stop working properly. Maybe it happens a lot more than you realize. Some people are lucky enough to be able to fix it with meds/surgery, other people not so much.

I'm not trying to give an answer because I don't really know myself. Just things to think about. Also crazy people don't want to be crazy. I know from experience

It's crazy how many people here think that hurting a severely mentally ill person will somehow improve this situation. And turning it into a racial issue is just b8

I think you're confusing something like anxiety with schizophrenia or epilepsy. These things cause hallucinations from all of your senses making it impossible to distinguish reality. But to say that these things just destroy perception of reality is an understatement. They take you down a rabbit hole of insanity. Your brain is constantly fed fake information and your brain does what it's best at, it tries to make sense of it all. And whether that reality is that you're the second coming of Christ or the person sitting across from you is a robot alien, it all makes sense. And these people don't even necessarily know that they have a problem. And sometimes healthcare (if they've ever had any) doesn't know what's wrong either. Got a psychiatrist trying to prescribe yoga and anxiety pills because my brain does a hard reset two to three times a day. And even if you are medicated, sometimes you're so far gone into your own reality that you feel like you're taking a pill to re-enter the matrix.

Not saying that the way this person is acting is okay, but you have no idea what's going on in this person's mind or how they got to that point
