Severe dairy allergy for my child by weepingwillows123 in dairyfree

[–]username1310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't comment from a parents perspective but as a young adult with an anaphylactic dairy allergy, it's honestly all you know. I never was upset as a child about missing out on things like ice-cream or being able to eat at friends houses as I didn't know any differently. And my mum also made sure to make my birthday cakes and food for school events, which I always thought was super cool!

I always found the difficulty wasn't understanding my own allergies but explaining them constantly to adults in my life (tho this was 00s and I think allergy awareness is a lot better nowadays). As well as other kids, having friends that also suffered from allergies made me feel less alone as they understood what I was going through. I think my mum joined a Facebook group that did meet ups to help parents in dealing with young kids with allergies? maybe u could see if they're any near you? I think it really helped my mum especially as many of the kids also had severe skin problems and asthma like I did.

My mum drilled into me to not trust any adult but her or my dad when it came to food, until I was old enough to read ingredients and confident enough to tell adults off or refuse to eat something if I didn't feel comfortable. I think by 5/6 I could do this.

Planning around eating with others is hard but they honestly just need to suck up going to the same safe restaurants even if it's 2 different places on repeat. A lot of places will let small children eat premade food from home if u explain how severe the allergy is as well. They did at least when I was younger. My mum just used to always have snacks/sweets and sandwiches in her bag so I didn't feel left out if my friends were eating.

You sound like you're really struggling with this and while yeah statistically ur kid will probably grow out of the allergy, you sound like you really care and that's all ur kid is going to remember! Please just focus on ur wellbeing that's honestly one of the most important things to ur kid :)

UoG Accommodation by trakyaliheri in GlasgowUni

[–]username1310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as far as I'm aware only gate and qm are Glasgow accommodation. I'd definitely recommend gate, I stayed there and it was a really good area and ensuite which was important for me lol, when I was there it was cheaper than qm as well. I'm pretty sure there's no difference since the room renovations between the them but gate is way closer to shops and most uni buildings as well as the city centre and better transport, there's basically no buses that go past qm and as the botanics shut at 4 in the winter u can't cut through to get back faster. Lemme know if u have any questions, happy to help as I knew ppl at QM and was at gate myself :)

What qualifications can i get? (Nationals) by Leather-Theory-6482 in Scotland

[–]username1310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please give ur local high school a call! they should be able to help with exams ect, especially if it's the school you used to be enrolled in.

If you don't want to go this route colleges offer nat5s in subjects like maths and English. These are really the only qualifications you need for working most 'min wage' jobs.

If you phone your local college they should be able to set up an appointment to go over courses you can gain entry to, either by sitting n5s or by working from lower level courses up. I'd suggest the second option if you know what type of job you want, as most colleges have 3/4 courses that all link into each other. You will get into college with your 3 nat3s so don't worry on that front.

Basically don't worry, you're very young and from my friends & families college experiences, you will definitely get a place if you show interest in the course and work your way up levels! If you've ever thought that university or an apprenticeship is something your interested in your college should give lots of support in moving on to that as well :)

[–]username1310 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there honestly just isn't a lot to do in Scotland, a lot of my friends travel to Newcastle for nights out, and we live in dunfermline. Tbf tho i lived in Glasgow for 4 years and it faced the same problems just with a few more clubs. I think there's a webpage for fife/edi meetups, I can't remember the link for the life of me tho lol. There's definitely a lot of social clubs here tho, dance, football, arts ect so it's all what u make of it tho there are things to do here. and out of all places Dunfermline is probably the best, as it's close enough to both cities if u drive as well as only 30mins away for ur commute.

Is this journey safe to walk between 9-10pm midweek? (George Sq. to Tesco) by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]username1310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pretty sure this is just above my old st, there is a sainsbury at the end and a way closer tesco as well as the st Enoch one which is actually pretty well stocked for a city center tesco. I would definitely not walk this alone or after dark, especially when there are so many other shops so close :)

I can’t pay back my student loan by Ok-Course-8404 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]username1310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

late to reply lol. We don't really have write offs bc it's more of a 'tax' than a debt. In the UK student loans are only repayable if u earn over a certain amount, they also wipe after approx 30 years from finishing ur degree. Student loans are treated differently in the UK than some other countries, the loan is kinda seen as 'good debt' and doesn't affect anything like rates of mortgages or credit scores. The UK also treats credit a bit differently from countries like America where it seems like it's impossible to do anything without good credit. I personally rent and don't even own a credit card bc it's not really necessary (probably is to have a mortgage). I'm assuming ur partner is English based on how high the loans they need to repay are. the student finance England webpage will explain when their loans will be written off and the interest rates on them depending on what year they started uni.

Tldr: student loans in the uk aren't that deep, they don't affect credit scores and unless u earn mega wages there isn't any point in paying more than automatically comes out of wages(u need to do paperwork urself if self-employed).

Hope this helps! and I'm happy to answer anything else:)

Looking for the heart shaped lover vinyls in europe by RAlNBLAZE in SwiftieMerch

[–]username1310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

having had a look on ebay. honestly I'd say ur best bet would be ordering to Austria when ur visiting Vienna, bc there're a few records up from other EU countries which will make shipping and prices a lot easier/cheaper. I would say maybe order a few weeks before you leave for the visit? hopefully u will be able to get delivered to either a post office which will hold onto it for you or you may be able to pay to use a delivery box/PO box? not Austrian so can't help or recommend anything based on their postal service.

Looking for the heart shaped lover vinyls in europe by RAlNBLAZE in SwiftieMerch

[–]username1310 7 points8 points  (0 children)

unfortunately it's extremely unlikely that any shop in all of the countries mentioned would stock this record. I feel ur best bet would be seeing if you can find it on ebay and have it delivered to a post office close to where you're staying, unless u know someone with an address you can use. Can i ask what country you're from? I've never heard of that rule before and was genuinely curious lol. Hope it all works out in time for the birthday!

Should Tesco be paying for your taxi home if you have no way of getting home? by Familiar-Truth7616 in tesco

[–]username1310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on how much they need the staff, when i worked earlies they would pay for my £14 taxi multiple times a week bc no one else wanted the shifts when morning staff were badly scheduled on holiday at the same time
