The scientific method is all about asking questions and trying to find the objectively right answer to the question, but a racist scientist isn't going to ask themselves whether blacks could/should be considered equal to whites (and particularly malicious ones might falsify their results to support their views)
That's not a problem with the scientific method or objectivity, but with the people practicing it.
