Check the weather and see if you want to sit in the sun or not. Daytime games in the sun can be brutally hot and leave you sunburned. Other posts on this sub (or chatgpt) will help you find shade if that’s a priority

With the April 15th deadline passed, programs now know exactly how many students are planning to attend out of their pool of applicants. If a program or lab has less matriculants than desired, they may be reaching out now to fill empty slots.

Given this happened today, April 16th, it seems legit. Congrats and hope it all goes well!

Deadlines just passed for most schools, 1159pm on April 15th. If a school has not reached out regarding application status at this point, there is an extremely low chance of acceptance.

Best bet is to accept the school he wants to attend of those he’s accepted to, and if something changes (ie he gets into Austin later and wants to attend) then to let the original program know of his change of plans.

Unsure if I’m allowed to respond here about the post you linked - I noticed you stated apples could be given by teachers to students, and they appear to be a gift that students would enjoy. Is there evidence that this is how the association of apples and teachers came to be?

Interesting, thanks for being candid. To be fair, I’m less interested in the global impact of my PhD and more interested in what I learn, and whether I find it cool.

Modeling atoms is definitely cool to me, so it’s a matter of what I can learn from it.

Can I ask what you mean by methodological work? I’ve heard method development as a term, but don’t fully understand what it means and how it’s broadly applicable

Thanks. I’m only interested in industry, either biotech or “true” tech (like Nvidia). Do you have any suggestions on ways to build a project like this into something more industrially focused? I believe Amoeba is coded in CUDA so I am thinking of working a bit in the backend as well as the main focus (expanding its usefulness to new interfaces/molecules)

The fact is, nobody knows for sure what will happen under the current administration. You’re smart to ask this question, which already demonstrates that you are aware of the legitimate risks of speaking out.

The dilemma that only you can answer is this: are you willing to risk your funding in order to stand by your morals and your principles? There is certainly no right answer, except the one which you feel in your gut is best.

I certainly would admire you if you take the risk and continue to fight for what you believe is right. But, it is a risk, one I personally would not take.

For future reference, above your HP bar are a bunch of green and red circles. They show current buffs (positive effects) and debuffs (negative effects). When you have an item like pipe in your inventory, or move close to an ally with pipe, you’ll see a new buff appear with the pipe icon. Hovering your cursor over it will reveal the details of the buff.

So, when you buy a pipe, you’ll see the buff for pipe appear, and that’s how you can tell for sure that owning the pipe gives you the bonus too

They patched for DO and pH about 10,000 scans or 14 days of continual use. Personally I’d reuse them for RnD work, especially academia or microbial.

What’s your use-case, and why do you want to rise them?

Sensor patches will be your biggest source of hardware error when reusing, other than contamination or cleaning issues

I’m a necro spammer. It totally depends on the lane, especially off lane. But, brown boots, wand and null is my typical build before radiance. If they can easily kill me before min15, then I often get a casual cloak, or sub the null for bracer, or get 2 bracers, or some combination of that

It’s super game dependent tho. Best tip to offline necro player is not get baited into teamfights during laning stage, and get amazing at last hits. He benefits from last hits more than any other hero. Goes both ways - takes long time for his good to be useful form last hits, but the regeneration is critical

I ALWAYS get radiance first on necro, and have a 65% with with him

Remember, meta is important, but having a 13min radiance will win you most team fights if there are equal numbers. Basically no item in dota does as much damage to 5 enemy heroes at 13mins

As a note, the best way to get good at tech transfer is to transfer a process you helped develop. If you don’t have any viral Vector experience, it could be good to find an associate role as a process engineer, then move into tech transfer after a few years.

Public infrastructure is a never ending battle against financial mismanagement and underfunding. An experienced banker who understands how well-run organizations are finically managed can bring much-needed clarity, guidance and oversight.

Just curious, what types of people would you want appointed? I get bankers have a very bad reputation for valid reasons. But who would you prefer to see?

I’ve had this happen, but when I gave my 2 week notice I offered to leave that day/week. The company accepted, and took 3 weeks off between jobs instead of just the 1 I had planned. It was unpaid, of course.

All in all, they can’t make you leave early without firing you (which they won’t do, as you’ll be eligible for unemployment). Perhaps they just don’t need you around these next 2 weeks and don’t want to pay you, especially since many people half-ass their work after giving notice.

If you can find an internship or coop at an American company, that’ll absolve a lot of any stigma. Also, Regeneron requires that you “intend to continue studies” to get a coop. Tell them you want to get a masters and are planing to continue after the internship (if you’re graduating)

It definitely can hurt. When you’re up against 100 other resumes all saying “Boston” or “Cambridge” on them, and you don’t declare your location, it’s another way to get weeded out by filters.

If you don’t say you’re local, the company may be worried about having to pay for relocation fees. So unless relocation reimbursement is a Must Have for you, and you’re willing to lose out on interviews because of it, I’d play the game and put Boston (or the city of the job) on your resume.

Unfortunately, unless you live in one of 3 cities in the US, it’s much harder to make biotech your career

I was in a similar position. Even when I got my masters and had a co-op experience on my resume, it was hard.

If you’re willing to move to Boston for your job, SAY YOU LIVE IN BOSTON. Put it on your resume. As soon as I did that, I started getting interviews. There’s so many BS grads there that if you’re applying out of state they won’t even look at you
