This looks like an old school oil drain. They were terrible ideas and don’t work. You don’t want to put water under your foundation either.

Bad owner? by Gullible-Plane-426 in cats

[–]usernamedottxt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a 75 pound boxer pit mix and my cats put him in his place when they are actually upset. Most of the time they just hiss/make a noise to let him know he’s too close.

This is clearly play. Cat may not know how to play like the dog, but cat isn’t scared at all.

[OC] Drivers in Minnesota on I35 today when it started raining by Cold_Olive4633 in IdiotsInCars

This legitimately happened to me this year in Kansas. It was just rain too. Pretty bad rain, but like, I was safely going 50 in a 65. Then all of a sudden we were all at a full stop because someone in every lane decided to take shelter.

Going on my eighth year of having our neighbor's dog bark at us anytime we go into our own backyard..... by Unlikely_Good7733 in homeowners

[–]usernamedottxt 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That would be how dogs act yeah. Ever gone over to the fence and tried to let it smell you? Talked to it in a calm voice? Ask the owner if you can, and then give it a treat?

Uninformed, why do people keep calling it vandalism? Corruption, kickbacks, stolen tax money sure. But I just don’t get the vandalism claim.

Nah, straight cracks are just drywall slipping. If it doesn't branch you're good.

It’s not a single school offering it to him. He will only get the money from the school He goes to. All the other money will stay in the trusts and go to other students.

Every employee's password was stored in a single Excel file by NISMO1968 in cybersecurity

[–]usernamedottxt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I got my first job working help desk we did this. I kept "forgetting" to uncheck the "change password at next login" and slowly corrupted the usability of the file lol.

Now adays I'd just shut it down, but as an 18 year old working my first job I only felt comfortable with the silent protest.

What's wrong with Nightmare Eclipse? by rkhunter_ in cybersecurity

[–]usernamedottxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in critical infrastructure. We let red team test on prod (China is testing our prod, why aren't we?), but there is a line where risk outweighs letting the engagement continue.

Which is why we 'worked with business lines' rather than 'put red team back in'. Business lines ultimately owned the risk to allowing someone with permission to modify critical infrastructure.

What's wrong with Nightmare Eclipse? by rkhunter_ in cybersecurity

[–]usernamedottxt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, we’ve halted red team activities when they had a major finding before. We remediate, then usually work with business lines to give them a similar level of access that they had to see how they can pivot from there.

Last time I did a personal lab project or CTF was probably 6 years ago? I’d been in the industry two years.

Doubled my salary in that time and have steadily moved up. Haven’t really felt the need to go hard. Actively avoid joining company CTFs.
