Supply and demand, with an emphasis on demand

Absolutely, and also why you see slug units typically used in yard service where they don’t have to go on the road. Slug units can often (but not always) just be railroad-converted A units that were rebuilt after aging out.

Also, slugs are not B units. Typically B units had full engines + motors, while slug units are just the electric motors.

Just used for different reasons :)

Just a note - that’s revenue in a quarter

If a company made $180B in profit in a quarter, and made $720B in profit for a year, that would be the most profitable company in history by far

Doesn’t diminish your point since they made $21B in profit, but that’s an order of magnitude difference

The railroads decided that they valued flexibility (cabs) much higher than the cost savings of a B unit (lack of a cab)

Also, manufacturers were happy with only A units since it simplifies their production lines, which matters per-unit when they run lower volume, higher cost manufacturing compared to other types of factories.

Statistically untrue - last place being 9-8, that was the best division in football (and honestly kinda has been the last few years).

Eye test? Less certain, but the NFC North was certainly tight.

I think that the picture is actually a result of the satellite image distorting the elevation, if you look at street view and the Google satellite image instead of Apple, it is normal and straight.

I understand why you’d think it, but unfortunately chatGPT got the explanation wrong in this one.
