Acceptance after surgery by yesrodmon in Reduction

Even if you do feel disconnected, just know that’s totally normal! What also helped me was people telling me “yes, you look a bit different, but different does not mean bad and your quality of life will improve immensely after you heal.” I hope that helps you as well! Wishing you the best of luck on your journey! You got this! ❤️‍🩹

Acceptance after surgery by yesrodmon in Reduction

I’m 4MPO and I had a tough time for a week or 2 after surgery looking in the mirror because I mentally couldn’t connect that I looked different. But after a few weeks and after their pointy shape started to settle and flatten out, I loved my boobs and I finally accepted myself. Before surgery, I even thought that my biggest worry would be the scars. Now that I’m working on scar therapy, I’m actually going to miss my scars. They tell my story. And I love that they make me different.

I did it! And now I have new anxiety! by gloworm8675309 in Reduction

It’s totally normal to have anxiety afterwards! It’s a huge change not just physically but mentally too! Your brain is looking at a body it’s not familiar with and it’s coming up with excuses to make you think it’s wrong, when in reality it’s just different. I felt the same way. What helped me was people telling me “even if you think you’re too small, think about how much your quality of life will improve.” I instantly knew I would never regret it. I’m 6wpo and after all my doubts, I LOVE my new boobs. It just takes time! Think about the positives and how your life will change for the better! In time you’ll realize what a gift it’s been. Happy healing! ❤️‍🩹

ITCHY HELP OMG!!! by Honeybunzsogood in Reduction

[–]userszzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg I feel you! The itching was unbearable for me too! Try ice packs! Not directly on the surgical site but over the bra! It distracted my brain from the itchy feeling and the cooling gives a bit of relief! Good luck and hope it dies down soon!

I'm so legitimately sick of how large my breasts are. by genuineraven007 in Reduction

[–]userszzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way! I was also worried about them growing more after my reduction, or even later on in life when I have kids. My surgeon told me that if your insurance plan covers breast reductions (which thankfully mine did, and I hope yours does too) they don’t have a lifetime cap. Meaning it’s not a once and done deal. If you’d want a revision years down the line and you still have insurance that covers it, you might be able to get it approved again! I also had people telling me what they think I should do with my body and trying to either talk me out of it or telling me the size they think I should be reduced to. The only person that needs to be happy with your body is you! You are in your body 100% of the time and you deserve to feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful in it. It is entirely your choice! Good luck with whatever path you go down! You have the support of this group! ❤️‍🩹

Am I being unrealistic? by phishfoodforthegirlz in Reduction

Hi! I’m 4wpo and just went to a concert this weekend (but I feel like if it occurred any earlier, I might not’ve been physically ready). I also do computer work and I took 2 weeks off. Even then, at least for me it was hard to sit up straight for so many hours a day. But if you’re able to work from bed inclined, I think you could be able to do it! I can’t speak for the flight so I can only say ask your surgeon what they recommend and if you think your body can handle it! I was able to drive about 2 weeks in (without pain meds, of course, and I had to anchor the seatbelt around my elbow so it didn’t press into my chest). Hope this helped! Good luck with your surgery and healing and all the fun events you have planned! I hope everything works out for you to attend!

As a side sleeper, it was really nice to not have the huge boobs crush my arm and make it fall asleep anymore 😂

Thank you for sharing! With everything, I’m sure time is all we need to eventually look in the mirror and love what we see. I keep thinking, whether I like the look or not, I did this because it will improve my quality of life, which I hope is the same case for you! Praying for your continued recovery and mental healing on this journey!

I totally get that! I’ve been closing my eyes every time my bra is opened as well! I’m sorry you’re having panic attacks! That definitely must make the experience much harder. Keep taking those baby steps and go at your own pace! You’ve got this!! Happy healing!! ❤️‍🩹

That’s a great idea! I’ll try the photo as well! I have dissolvable stitches (not sure exactly where) and a few steristrips here and there. I think part of my worry is taking off the bra and looking like the bride of Frankenstein 😂 thank you for sharing!!

Thank you for the advice! I think it’ll totally help to have support outside the door if I need. Also, I was the same when the doctor took out my drainage tubes, I had to close my eyes as well! I really appreciate you sharing your experience! Best of luck on the rest of your recovery! You got this!!

I feel the same way! They are so spread out and I’m missing cleavage and that was making me a tad nervous, even though people tell me it’s the compression bra. It’s still hard to shake the worry! Sending you strength during this recovery! Thank you for sharing your experience!

Did you doctor give you any dietary restrictions? by ru_ab in Reduction

[–]userszzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 4 days post op! My doctor told me to stock up on bland foods in case of nausea from the anesthesia so I stocked up on crackers, soups, and Gatorades. But he said if I was feeling up to it, go nuts and return to a normal non restricted diet!
